Is work equal to force x distance or force x displacement?

ok. pretty sure it's a non-state function which means the total distance matters. (work = force * distance).

I can think of some things which may be tripping you up, like if the force is not at parallel vector to the distance moved, which means you would have to use sin or cos to figure out the value of the work, some people use the term component displacement for that.
