a ? on the histo miniboards today asked ..which organs contained fenestrated capilaries...and the thyroid gland, and brain were options.

now..even though now i know its the thyroid...

i read nervous right beofre exam...it said C-plexus capilaries were fenestrated.

yeye, blood brain barier.....but if the CP is in the brain...cant i then claim it contains some fenestrated caps

choroid plexus is not a part of the blood brain barrier...........it lines the inside of the ventricles in the brain and produces CSF.

Blood brain barrier is the endothelial cells that are induced by the astrocyte foot processes to produce the blood brain barrier.

undersood...but is the choriod plexus part of the brain?

Well..I think I remember learning that the ependymal cells make up the choroid, which secretes CSF. Now, the ependymal cells are derived from neuroectoderm (via neuroepithelial cells), so I would say that the choroid is considered that part of the brain. But then again, I could be totally wrong. You just reminded me that I have to study for my Histology Shelf exam (most likely similar to your "mini-board". Later
