Just got in today....Terre Haute. Now it's decision time... MCW vs. IU.

While this will be an extremely hard decision, I'm very blessed to be in this position.

Really hate to post this but I got it in my email not too long ago.

Dear IUSM Class of 2011:

National Decision Date has come and gone. It is my understanding that
we had a substantial number of students who decided to stay and attend
IUSM. So much so that only a very few will be accepted off the
alternate list this time around. Now that the dust has settled, I want
to use this financial aid update as an e-mail of Question and Answers
that I have received and it is a good time to pass on.

This happened to me. I was accepted to MCW in January, waitlisted at IU. Last week I received an e-mail from MCW saying that I had been accepted at two institutions. I called IU and asked them if this was correct because I had not received anything in the mail or a phone call. IU told me that MCW was not to release this information but that I had been accepted and placed at one of the satellite campuses at IU. To make a long story short, MCW gave me the deadline of today at noon (so 1 week). I STILL have not formally received anything from IU. They said letters were sent out last Friday. With the holiday weekend and the race, mail can get behind a day or so in Indianapolis. So hopefully I will have my packet from IU today. At any rate, I e-mailed the director of admissions at MCW and they granted me a small extension through the end of the week. In conclusion, it seems like there is no set policy on either end.

So I guess that the select few should be getting an acceptance letter today.

You have to look at it from another perspective. Students who are on waitlists at other schools may end up giving up their spot at any time throughout the summer, thus opening a position at IUSM. Although intially there may not be much waitlist movement, you never know how things are going to pan out as the summer progresses.
