Great subject line. Anyone else get this email today?

The admissions committee of Indiana University School of Dentistry devoted very careful consideration to your application for admission to our DDS program. Our applicant pool increased again this year, which made the selection process both competitive and difficult. The committee made selections last week. Unfortunately, they did not grant you admission to the entering class of 2007.

If you wish to reapply for the class entering in 2008, I encourage you to submit another application to AADSAS by late May as we anticipate an even larger applicant pool in 2008. Applications will be available on the web May 2007. The address to apply electronically is www.adea.org (click on Student/Application information). Your current file will remain in the Office of Records and Admissions for one year. Therefore, if you wish to reapply, you will not need to send new recommendations, but you must send all of your transcripts to AADSAS. AADSAS will not begin to process your application until they receive official transcripts from all of the colleges and universities you attended.

As you ponder how to improve your chances for admission, keep in mind the academic averages for those accepted to the 2007 class:

Cumulative GPA 3.61

Science GPA 3.56

DAT 19-19-19

To be a competitive applicant for the 2008 entering class, you should strive for DAT scores of 18 or higher across the board, a science GPA of 3.3, substantial exposure to dentistry, strong manual dexterity skills, and a well-rounded background in community service, extracurricular activities, volunteerism, and/or real world life experiences. If several of your DAT scores fall below 18, you should consider taking the Kaplan DAT preparatory course. If your science GPA falls below a 3.3, you should strongly consider entering a pre-professional master’s degree program in biology.

Please feel free to contact me via email ([email protected]) or by phone, if you have questions.

Sincerely,

Robert H. Kasberg, Jr., Ph.D.

Assistant Dean of Student Affairs

Indiana University School of Dentistry

I would have but I withdrew my applicatation in January.
IUSD = meanies
Don't even get me started, I applied in mid June, Indiana resident.
They make me mad. I had good stats, I thought it was because I applied a little too late, but I saw people had interviews who applied later then me. Oh well I didn't really want to attend anyway.

I interviewed in September and I got this letter in early December. Then I got an email a few weeks later asking me to call their office if I wanted to be considered for the waitlist and hadn't been accepted anywhere else... haha!

i got that email... i guess it was better than the phone call...

i too got the dreaded email.. i have been told to do the masters program at iu... has anyone else been told the same?
