IUSM Step 1 Score

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
So for those of you at schools who have changed their curriculum to improve board scores, can you describe the changes?
Genesis curriculum. And I can only presume that board scores had at least something to do with the change, though I have no data in pre/post change averages.

I do know anecdotally of at least one other school that changed recently to a Genesis curriculum, and in that case I'm pretty sure that low board performance was a significant factor in the desire for a change. I don't think they modeled any one school in particular, but rather this teaching approach in general that has been well received in many other schools. In this anecdotal case, however, board scores have remained pretty dismal. 🙂

Yes, 230 is the IUSM average.
No, our dean didn't make this up.
The reason we scored well is simply applicant pool. Applications were up over 30% our year so they weeded out the lower rung.
Our curriculum is a bit of a disaster. Numerous campuses, each with its own curriculum, and very little oversight. I haven't seen a medical school who makes great doctors or test takers, but I've seen some that make bad ones. As for the shelf tests I think they aren't exactly like the board and they haven't helped me one bit or changed how our classes are taught.

As for someone from Wisconsin making fun of Indiana...please. That's like Carrot Top raggin' on Dane Cook. All there is to do in Indiana is drink. Hey wait that's the same with whole Midwest.

Also, when applying NO ONE official wanted to talk numbers, but just stated "we do above average." I don't trust this rumor mill crap. Jesus, it's rumored I posted 325+ with a hangover.

So, seriously no one else is going to step up to the plate?
