Hi Y'all,

So I was recently pulled off the waitlist for VCOM-VA and IUSM-Indianapolis. I am having a hard time deciding mostly because VCOM's admission staff were so nice to me during the process of looking for housing. As for IUSM, I am still gathering Information, I have to take a trip there next week to "READ" the vibe. In the meantime, I will like to know what y'all think about both schools.

PS: IUSM is the only MD school that interviewed me this cycle. This is also my first time applying to medical school so I am still trying to figure out what to look for before picking a school.

Dude Indiana is a fantastic school and will set you up for any specialty you want. Meanwhile if you pick VCOM, there will be a bias against you for matching into: neurosurgery, plastics, derm, ophthalmology, orthopedics, interventional radiology, ENT, and likely a few others (most surgical subspecialties). If you decide you want to do one of these specialties, you will regret attending VCOM.

There will be bias in all specialties. Even in the non competitive ones. There are university and even some community programs even in IM/FM that won't interview a DO.
