I'm international so these are still crazy expensive for me-- NSU offered a slightly better scholarship and has a slightly better tuition fee, but cost of living in Fort Lauderdale is a killer.

I liked how comfortable I felt at UIW. It was very relaxed and everyone knew each others names, the students were all very friendly too see interviewees etc. Nice building, pretty small but I like that all the profs are nearby and clinic is attached and spacey, and I liked the sports vision component. San Antonio residents are very hospitable, although I did see a pretty pronounced homeless population (vs where I'm from anyways). Cheaper cost of living, but it's a newer school and less reputable.

NSU was just impressive in general. Beautiful green campus, I love the scrub thing, and I like the multidisciplinary vibe. Was definitely less friendly-- even though there were a lot more students around, we weren't acknowledged unless the person touring us around introduced us to her friends (she was really nice though). I think it's a little more reputable, with (correct if I'm wrong) better board scores. I loved Fort Lauderdale, but I felt like I had to try a little harder to be energetic and likeable during the interview vs UIW, which felt more familial.

Any opinions? 🙂 thanks

Hi there, congrats on your acceptance, did you get an offer of scholarship from NSU?
I'm wondering to know how did you apply for it?
Was the offer in your official email or they told you on phone?

Hi! Yea I got a scholarship-- under 10k, but I'm pretty happy because the Canadian dollar is low right now. No application, they'll consider you automatically. And they told me over the phone, but will send an email later on.

That's great, congrats! You were so lucky! They didn't offer me one.

Hi anonnnnnnnnn123
I'm thinking about housing in Florida (If at the end I decide to attend NSU), just curious to know have you decided on it yet? Do you want to live in Rolling Hills or renting an apartment in the city?
I'm figuring out which one is better financially as a Canadian...

Hiii fellow Canadian 🙂 Yea I did decide on NSU! Of course still waiting on Waterloo but I'm so sick of the snow that I wouldn't even be upset about it.
I'm planning on buying an apartment as of now-- I'm pretty luck to have a ton of parental support. There seems to be a lot of housing in the area, and the rent seems sooo high while the housing seems fairly priced and I think is in a good place to sell in the future too.
I'm thinking of buying because my family (parents, siblings, etc) plans to come visit since it's, y'know, Florida. But during my interview, Juan said that if you decide on rolling hills and become and RA then you get free housing. That'd be pretty ideal, financially.

Wow that's great! That's a really thoughtful idea.
May I ask what does RA mean? Is it research assistant? (I didn't get how we can get free housing)

Sorry haha, RA as in Resident Assistant (I think that's what it's called?) I assume by rolling hills you mean the student housing-- if you live in student housing for a semester or 2 you can apply to be an RA (in my university that means you're kinda in charge of your floor) and from what I understood (maybe contact someone before making any decisions), if you get the position then you get to room there for free.

Hi, I'm also a fellow canadian but I hope to attend PUCO. Do you mind if I ask what your stats were like to get a scholarship?

That's very good to know. Thank you very much for your response.

Hiii 🙂 OptomCAS calculated my GPA at 3.5, with a 350 AA and 350 TS. They told me that NSU also considers the rigour of Canadian universities.
