Hi, I am planning to move to Texas and a lot of places prefer IV certification. Does any one know good IV certification course? RxProStaff offers an expedited course and Trinu offers a 2-day course. Any idea which one would be a good choice for someone who has IV experiences but first timer for the IV certification course? Thank you!

A lot of places in Texas don't prefer that you have IV certifications. It is required by the Tx BOP for you to have IV certification if the facility compounds sterile products. A lot of places won't even look at your application unless you have it (I got lucky). I would recommend Austin Community College. You have to do a 2 day on-site portion and sit for 3 exams at a testing center like a local community college or library. The rest is all online and at your own pace (as long as you finish everything in a semester). I didn't do any of the online modules until after I had my 2 day on-site portion and was completely done in about a week or two. I had my certification in hand in about 6 weeks after my on-site portion.

Thank you! Are those 3 exams done on the same day? I haven't moved to Texas so I highly prefer a course that I can get done in a few days.

Nope! You can schedule the 3 exams whenever you want to. All you do is email the instructor to let them know what days you want to take the exams and to get it set up. I was not living in texas when I completed the course and it was pretty easy. I flew to Austin for the 2 day on-site portion and then did my 3 exams at a local library in my home state. I feel like this whole process was confusing for an out of state person since I had never heard of IV certification and the Tx BOP gives you no guidance. But, Austin Community College made it pretty easy.

Here's the course and available dates: Sterile Compounding & Aseptic Technique (SCAT)

The dates listed are the 2 day required on-site portion.
