J1 Visa specialties list + radonc in US?

Hi,

I'm a 3rd year med student in Quebec and I'm looking into residency in the US. does anyone know where I can find the specialties for which the gov't of quebec will issue a J1 visa? I match in 2012 but I want to take a look at the 2011 list to see if perhaps radonc is there. Also anyone have experience with electives or residency in radonc in the US after med school in canada?

l'ensemble des demandeurs de visas J-1 de catégorie A EMDA et de catégorie B.

Médecine de famille 6
Anatomo-pathologie 3
Anesthésiologie 5
Chirurgie générale (excluant chirurgie thoracique, vasculaire et pédiatrique) 5
Chirurgie orthopédique 5
Hématologie 2
Médecine interne * 6
Obstétrique-gynécologie 4
Oncologie médicale 2
Pédiatrie générale * 2
Psychiatrie (incluant pédopsychiatrie) 6
Radiologie diagnostique 6
Total : 55

Aucun appui ne sera émis hors quotas ou dans d'autres disciplines, à moins qu'un besoin
exceptionnel soit démontré à la satisfaction du MSSS.

Les résidents en formation aux États-Unis à l'intérieur de ces quotas ne sont pas comptabilisés dans les postes attribués en vertu de la politique postdoctorale.
* En médecine interne et en pédiatrie générale, la formation proposée ne peut dépasser 3 années. Toute demande de renouvellement de visa J-1 après 3 années afin de passer à une sur ou une sous-spécialité médicale ne faisant pas partie de la liste ci-dessus ne pourra être autorisée. Le candidat devra revenir au Québec afin de terminer les années de formation manquantes.

Hi there,

I think the provincial government will still issue you a statement of need even if rad onc is not on the list. It's more of a formality than anything. I did med school in the US so did some electives at my home school in rad onc and applied to rad onc both in the US and Canada.
