how many people in here jack up mcat scores to make themselvbes look good???
cos there are way too many upper 30 scores..and having mader a 30R and being in thwe top 18% i find it hard to believe that there are so many poeple with way higher scores than i

it probably shouldnt make you mad that people inflate their scores if you know youre in the top 18%. worry about yourself and not ohters. good job on your score.

by its very nature, SDN gets many more of the over-achieving pre-meds. i always thought of it this way: if they cared so much about getting into med school and getting all of the information that they can find (ie frequent SDN), they're probably better off than most (who probably don't know what they're doing).

try to keep in mind that SDN is a self-selected sample and, thus, is not representative of the populatoin of MCAT test takers...

individuals who are interested enough in medical school to spend time on an online chat board dedicated to medical school are very likely to represent a biased sample.....

your 30 is a very respectable score, don't feel bad at all about it and don't worry if it doesn't compare to other SDN scores

plus, some people with higher 30 scores might be retesters (like myself)

It's possible that most of the people on here are telling the truth. They are the ones applying the first couple weeks of June and interviewing already (the ones that didn't have to wait for the August MCAT anyway.) All the overachievers seem to be on here. In other words, the board is not a representation of all the people that took the test and are applying.

Many of the people that don't have their act together are probably sending in their AMCAS application tomorrow, didn't do that great on the MCATs, and have no idea what Student Doctor Network is (not to say that all people that aren't on here aren't good candidates either.)

Deep don't worry about other people. I think lots of peeps on SDN do add a few points to their real MCAT scores before
posting

You got a 30...its FINE!! Build your personal statement and do some worthwhile things before applying.

Last MCAT (april), a whole bunch of people reported scores in the low 40's. When the actual stats came out, it turns out less than 1% of takers scored above a 40. Go figure. People definitely exxagerate their scores on this board!

Get off the forum and go talk to some real people. Most of the people I knew scored around 27, definitely made me feel better about my score. I wasn't even going to apply because the scores on this board made me feel so discouraged, but I'm glad I did! I'll be going on 3 interviews in November to some of my top choices!

Yes one thing to consider is that people who did poorly are not posting their scores. So that tends to scew the board distribution.

haha, after a yr of being on SDN, I can tell ya that u will never see a score lower than 24 posted not because people dont get it but because people on SDN are quick to give "in ya face" advice 🙄 😛
I didnt get no 30, but I improved 5 points and a couple of friends with similar scores are in now 🙂
