I didn't see this thread yet, so I figured I'd start it.

I Haven't been to these boards a lot, but I'm depressed to see so many so disheartened. I personal think that many of us (including myself) need a good swift kick to the seat of our pants in order to shake off our piss poor attitudes. Especially, because often at work I have to deal with 'borderline personality disorders' and as much as they aggrivate me, I can't help thinking how my premed ego is so much like a borderline personality (the poor me, preteen girl, selfish attitude).

So come one everybody! Pull yourself up by your boot straps or whatever, and start seeing yourselves as a medical student this fall! Part of being a physician certainly has to do with handling disappointment, and if we all react like selfish 11 year old spoiled brats, we aren't ready to be physicians in training.

I have an interview during the end of this month, and I will be a medical student at unm this august 🙂 (see it...be it! ROCK ON!)

😀

That's what my face looks like.

I got a call yesterday and will be flying into New Orleans to interview at Tulane on Jan 26th!
Then I get home and open my email to see a secondary invite from UCSF.
:luck:
What a great day!

There's still hope!!!!!!!!!

Keepin' it positive...

Anyone else at Tulane/been to New Orleans lately? I'd love to hear about your experiences....

Had two interviews this month and another invite this week for VCU. I'm still on pins-and-needles though about a decision. Hopefully, I'll have good news by the end of the month. :luck:

Great post, rachmininov! We do need to be reminded of how fortunate we really are, even if we get rejected a million times.

It's a new year, guys. There are tons of possibilities and things to be thankful for. good luck on the interview trail! :luck:

Well, I've had two interviews so far. One ended in a waitlist and I'm still waiting on the other.

I have two more interviews this month and one more in February. Trying to keep positive. 👍

Glad to hear everyone is feeling better. My interview is getting closer, and preparations are in full swing (new copies of Lancet, Jama, NEJM and planning a last minute prayer trip to Chimayo to be calm and collect before hand.)
Now the hard part: shopping! (what do you mean my pinstriped scrubs aren't considered formal atire?)

Just got news that I was waistlisted at Buffalo. I know it's better than a rejection, but still I am eagerly awaiting an oh-so coveted acceptance.

Thought I would share with you guys,

January is generally the pivotal month. as most rolling schools are filling their classes, and people are cancelling interviews left and right because they've gotten into their schools of choice. This leaves opportunities for those who haven't received interviews to express interest and snatch those open spots.

If you haven't heard from your schools by now, I'd suggest you call them and ask them about the status of your application. If they're receptive to you, let them know your interest in obtaining an interview. This worked for me last year, as I was able to get an interview - but it ended up being a waitlist. But even that is better than giving up this chance of getting a spot. Keep up the efforts, and you'll get in. Good luck! :luck:

well, i've been in at Pittsburgh since October, now I have interviews at the Cleveland Clinic and Case Western Reserve in February. I've withdrawn from most schools and am only really waiting on stanford (cause they are always late in the process) and I would like to hear from Yale. I still havent heard from UMass and my interview was in september, so who knows. So, I'm guessing my decision will come down to Pitt and Case or CC if I were to get into either of them. Goodluck everyone

Jim

Had a great interview at Tulane - what an awesome school. I think it'll be great to help rebuild the city and set the standard of healthcare. The dean took me aside and told me she thought I was really outgoing and that she'd be very happy to see me attend in the fall. :wow:
Haven't gotten my actual letter yet, but that was a hugely encouraging experience.
Finally! 😀

Keep the faith everyone, keep the faith.
The only thing that would make me happier would be an interview in California - but even so, I loved the vibe at Tulane...

great to hear about Tulane Niki!

I also had a great interview at UNM last week. One of my interviewers said that if it were entirely up to him, I'd have the first spot in the class! (but of course it comes down to the competition, and waiting until march). But hey, the interviews went well, so now all there is to do is wait.

Sounds like January turned out to be a pretty awesome month for everyone, even after starting out with such discouraging threads as 'how do you stop feeling like your life is wasted?'

Keep the faith, keep positive, and we will be medical students this fall!
Come on Feb, bring it on! 😀
