I have asked this before but is anyone here on the high priority wait list? Has anyone heard of any movement yet? I know that the wait list is two-tiered but I was wondering if anyone has heard anything or gotten any acceptances? Sorry to go on but I am freaking out, I am anxiously awaiting June.

From what I know, you're supposed to write them a LOI and they'll take you off the list. I'd give it a shot.

I did write a letter. Apparently very few people have turned down their offers. I hope someone does soon.

I'm on it. I wrote them a letter of interest. And I haven't heard a thing, nor do I know anyone who has.

Me too. I wrote a letter of intent, wrote several emails, called, etc. I have not heard anything yet.

im not on this...but i am on a similar thing at ucla...

you wont really hear back until mid to late may. since thats when waitlist moevment will begin.

so if you have written LOIs i am sure that they have them and took note of your great interest in the school and hopefully you will be notified in a little more than a month.

good luck.

I am not on the high priority waitlist, but I have kept contact since being waitlisted in december. I actually was going to call today, but I completely forgot.

As an aside, I would really like to hear good news soon since my apartment lease here in philly is up at the end of may. My only acceptance so far is at drexel, so I theoretically could start looking for one now, but I would really like to finalize things. Oh well, waitlists suck.

I am on the "special high priority list" but I am going to refuse an offer if they give me one since I have already decided where I am going (I would just withdraw but I doubt I am hurting anyone, let me know if you feel otherwise). I interviewed in September and was put on the list in October . . . I stopped showing interest though so I assume I am dropping in priority.

Question:

I sent a letter, and I'd love to keep showing interest and all that. You folks who are "showing interest"...what are you doing? What do you even say in your e-mails and calls? Just, "Hi, I'm still interested"? Isn't that a little weird?

Any movement on the waitlist at Jefferson? Won't I ever get the call?

I think there has been some movement, but not alot yet. Although this is just from me monitoring SDN. I recently sent Dr. Callahan an email and she hasn't responded, which makes me wonder if things are busy over there since she usually is very good about getting back to me.

Hey ForensicPath,

Hopefully we will make it into the Jefferson Class of 2008. Keep me up to date on whether she gets back to you. What do you email her about?

I was recognized for my community service recently with an award, so I wanted to add that to my application. I basically let jefferson know of any major status updates to my application.

I had called a couple of weeks before May 15 and the person on the phone indicated to me that there was already waitlist movement, which surprised me. I'll be removing myself from the priority waitlist hopefully tomorrow, so hopefully that'll help people.

Hey ForensicPath,

Did Dr. Callahan ever get back to you? Heard of any substantial movement since May 15th?

No she never got back to me. I called either thursday or friday and was not really able to get much information. I haven't heard of any more movement. I hope this doesn't mean that there won't be significant waitlist movement this year.

I got in off the High Priority list on May 14th. Dr. Callahan said that most of the time the class doesnt fill up until mid to late June, SO there is still hope. Keep calling and email Dr. Callahan, explain your situation and how you want to attend Jeff.

Thanks for the update. I wonder why it is that the waitlist doesn't move until so far past the May 15th declaration date.

I heard this year is going to be a little sluggish because the 15th was on a weekend and it slowed people from turning down spots. That sounds like a stupid explaination but anything is possible.

Hey everyone, I'm also "high priority" on the waitlist at Jefferson, since September. I sent a LOI every few months, with an update of what I'd been up to, but of course heard nothing back. Got into USC a couple of months ago, and I'm going there so there should be another spot opening up for all you waitlisted folk- enjoy Philly!

Anybody else off the waitlist and which one?

any news lately?? 🙂

I'm on the HP wait list too. I email Dr. Callahan every week to check in and all she keeps telling me its that they are still working on it. Her response looks almost like an auto-respond to wait listers. I guess we just wait.

Does it seem like the WL is moving especially slow this year or is it just me? Is this normal? It is nearly mid-june and still no one is saying that they have been accepted of the waitlist.

yeah... i had thought that jefferson typically has a decent amount of WL movement, but there has not seemed to be much yet.

I have to admit that I am starting to lose faith. I have sent them a number of updates including LORs and notice about a couple of awards I received recently and still nothing. I am holding onto my acceptance at Drexel and I am just going to assume that I will be there come August. I withdrew from all other waitlists except for Jefferson. I already have an apartment in Philadelphia, but now all I need is that ever elusive phone call. I'm not even on the high priority at Jefferson. My phone calls and emails have become far less frequent because I've been on this waitlist since december. I'm going to give it until the end of June until I officially consider myself a Drexel student.

I was on the High Priority wait list from March until May 14th. I just kept bugging them and bugging them, the lady who answers the phones knew me by voice, Dr. Callahan became accustomed to my weekly emails and pestering. She did say that very few people had turned down their Jefferson spots this year and they were surprised that there was not alot of movement early. Dont give up, good things do happen. I know other schools have been slow to move this year also.

W222,
Does that mean you are in? It is a difficult time... I feel especially bad considering I thought I heard some statistic somewhere that 3 out of 4 interviewees get accepted. If that was the case, apparently it is not this year.

I called today and really did not get much information. I was basically told that the waitlist was moving.

Moving where? South?

Yes, Hongspruce I got a call from Jefferson on the 14th of May and I sent in my deposit two weeks ago. I have this advice to give you and Forensicpath: write the best letters you can stating exactly why you want to go there and why you think their school will make you a good doctor. It seems to have worked for me. I was preparing to head to a Masters program when I got the call.

Yes, the secretary, who seems to know my name already despite the fact that I only call every 2-3 weeks, told me to call next week if I don't hear anything. I have basically bombarded Jeff with significant updates since january. I am currently composing an email to Dr. Callahan to see if I can get any more info.

I wouldnt write to Dr. Callahan just to ask her the same questions because she really cant tell you anything more than the secretary has already. I would write to her and say, "l have been accepted at school X but my heart really isnt there, I would much rather attend Jefferson and these are the reasons why." I would just be persistent with them. Jeff seems to be one of the few schools that actually listens to us, compared with most schools that just give you a load of BS.

It's been eerily silent even though I called last week and was told that the waitlist was moving. Maybe it's just coincidence that no one on SDN has gotten the good news.

Oh well, I guess there is no point speculating. I'm just looking forward to an enjoyable weekend at the US Open at Shinnecock Hills here on Long Island to take my mind off of it for a little while.

You are going to the US Open, I am so jealous. I really wanted to go but my parents opted to head to Arizona in the fall for a golf vacation. We were also going to go to the Ryder Cup in '01, but other things came up. I did get to see the Ryder Cup win in '99 at the Country Club in Brookline, MA. I was on the 17th green when Justin Leonard sunk that 40ft put to win it. I went nuts.

SO BACK TO JEFFERSON: Keep calling and keep pestering. They want people who want to go there so keep giving updates and keep working at it. Dont give up.

Yes, I just came back from the practice round. I saw Tiger and Garcia today. I'll be there on thursday, saturday, and sunday as well. I missed it when it was at Bethpage, but I'm taking advantage of the Shinnecock Open. The practice rounds have been nuts, so I can only image what its going to be like when actual competition starts tomorrow.

Back to Jefferson again: I keep updating them, but I always feel like I am pestering them, but I do it anyway. I keep looking for excuses to call them rather than just asking what the waitlist situation is like.

It will probably work out for you. Dr. Callahan said that this class doesnt fill most years until late June or early July. There is still time. One thing I would suggest, if there is anyone who can write you another letter of recommendation, I mean anyone you have done good work for, then get them to send it ASAP. This worked for me.

I feel the same way as you Forensic Path...I don't want to keep bothering them but I want them to know I REALLY want to go to school there.

W222...I Pm'ed you...

BOSOX PMed you back brotha. Ohh, one thing I heard works. If you dont get in this year ask to meet with Dr. Callahan in person and talk about your file. Then when you reapply this will help.

PMed you again BOSOX

Got it, and sent one back...Thanks.

Done and done. Last time I called I was told it arrived on June 8.

I've done everything suggested also. It appears that not many people are giving up their acceptances, despite being well past may 15th.

Just got the good news call. I am officially finished with this med school application process.

You got into Jefferson? Great news man, congrats. Did Dr. Callahan call you herself?
