Jeopardy…haha

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I took it as a poorly-worded play on the story about him mastering a claw machine. He “only” became an anesthesiologist, not a surgeon.

In other words, would we bat an eye if she had said that he “only” became a theoretical physicist, not a robot surgeon?

My exact instant reaction was, "Ah, probably another premed who couldn't get into med school and is bitter."

Lo and behold, from her Wikipedia page:

Bialik has said she did not have the grades needed for medical school.
They hate us cause they ain't us. A tale as old as time.

Then again, I hate myself and I am me.

its crazy ASA hasnt posted a statement about this! this happened on national TV i assume, which is very bad advertisement for anesthesiologist especially since people dont even know we are doctors..

i learned about this a few days ago from gomerblog

The ASA Instagram did this....take it how you will

Y’all are taking things too seriously. The entire context matters. Why are people up in arms. She said “digging into things” like surgeons do. Do we dig inside people like they do?
Is the offense at the word “just”? before “an anesthesiologist?”

People still watch this show(?)
Let alone care about the dry humor on there?

well she said things. not people. anesthesiologist absolutely dig into things. i dig into my cart all the time to find my supplies. do surgeons do that? they got techs to set up!

She’s doing ok career wise
Ok? That’s not mutually exclusive with being a bitter, failed premed.

For the record, not ending up in medicine is the better path imo. So idk why she’s bitter still.

Who says she's bitter? Y'all are the ones making those assumptions. Plenty of people didn't get into medical school and pursued other careers and are probably much better off.
The woman had her own sitcom for crying out and she has a PhD. And has been on a hit comedy for the past few years. I doubt she regrets not being a physician.
How many people on here can honestly say they would have done just as well getting a PhD as our degree? Y'all are just digging for stuff, and maybe some of y'all are the bitter ones.

Her comment was a profoundly hurtful micro aggression. I am traumatized and need a safe space like this forum. Maybe some therapy.

You have come to the right place if you seek hand holding, meditation and Koombaya. Our forum is known as the friendliest and micro-agression free, safe space on SDN. Namaste.

She got the PhD to scratch her doctor itch, and nobody can convince me otherwise 😎

If she was born a decade later she’d be an NP instead. DNP to be specific, and she’d insist on being called Dr💀

We had a local entrepreneur who was instrumental in the creation of over 50 biotech startups worth tens of billions. He said he applied to 14 medical schools and was rejected by all of them. So he got an MBA at UCLA and the rest is history. Sadly he died too young from pancreatic cancer.

meh...I'm Catholic and I really like Led Zeppelin...I don't take my moral cues from Led Zeppelin. I like Jeopardy! and I don't find my professional validation from game shows...and I don't know if the patient I put to sleep for his ascending dissection even has a TV.....that a game show host doesn't know what I do doesn't hurt my feelings because I can count on one hand the number of people in the actual OR that actually knows what I do....

Depending what kind of room I’m in, sometimes I can count it on one finger.

You never seen me put in a cannula?

It's kind of a dumb comment/joke by the host, but I think people are taking it out of context, which is that surgeons are a little more hands-on in surgery, digging around inside a patient (as compared to a claw game). Reacting strongly to this would be akin to nurses getting in an uproar about that stethoscope incident on TV a few years ago.

So now we are comparing Neuroscience PhDs to online DNPs. Ok. Because it’s soo damn easy to get through that kind of PHD.
Maybe you have smoked and killed too many of those brain cells that she’s such an expert in. I am sure the DNPs would have aced their Neuroscience dissertations with flying colors. Lol

Agree. Claw game I immediately think laparoscopic surgery
