Condolences to the Yale MD-PhD community on the death of Jim Jamieson. Jim was an outstanding scientist, teacher, mentor, and human being. He was the longest-serving MD-PhD director in the nation at the time he stepped down in 2014, having served 32 years in two stints stretching back to Richard Nixon's final year in office. He was an important figure in the national MD-PhD community, known for his passion, insight, and amiable nature. At conferences, he was quick to suggest that we move a conversation to the bar. A Canadian by birth and temperament, he loved the outdoors (especially sailing) and relished a good story. He did many good things, but he was most of all a great person.
