Basically you have to be consistant because they are busy at kaplan. First call 1888-kaplan-2 and apply for what you want to teach. After about a week they should send you an email looking like this:
(name):
Hi!
I'm blah blah, Teacher Recruitment Coordinator for Kaplan
Educational Centers. Thank you for your interest in teaching for
Kaplan. After carefully reviewing your application, we are pleased
to invite you to audition for a teaching position.
Teaching for Kaplan is a part time job that can be as flexible as you
want it to be. Our classes usually meet once or twice a week in the
evenings or on weekends for anywhere from four to ten weeks
(depending on the course). As a new graduate from our training
program, you will normally be assigned one class to begin with.
However, it is possible to increase your teaching load as you gain
experience in the classroom. If you are interested in more
information regarding the structure of our programs, please visit our
website
www.kaptest.com and select the test you are interested in
teaching.
Applying to Kaplan for a teaching position is a two-step process.
First, you will need to pass a five-minute audition (see below for
specific information). If your audition goes well, you will be
invited to join us for teacher training. The training program is an
evaluative process, involving extensive mock teaching and feedback.
We require that you have recently (within the last 5 years) taken the
test you wish to teach and scored above the 90th percentile. If your
test scores are on the border of the 90th percentile, or if it has
been some time since you have last taken the exam, you will be asked
to take a diagnostic exam at a local Kaplan center. This score is a
necessary precondition to graduating from the training program.
We expect our teachers to play four roles in the Kaplan classroom; we
count on them to be experts both in test content and Kaplan
strategies, dynamic and enthusiastic presenters, mentors and
representatives of Kaplan. We will be looking for these qualities
through out the audition and training process.
Please contact me as soon as possible to schedule your audition.
Seating is limited. Please call me at your first opportunity to book
your audition spot for one of the following Centers and dates below::

I look forward to speaking with you. Below you will also find a
brief description of the audition process. Thanks again for your
interest in teaching for Kaplan. Congratulations on being selected
to audition.
WHY HOLD AUDITIONS?
We seek teachers who are not only intelligent but charismatic role
models who convey material in an easy-to-understand and interesting
manner. High test scores are only one of many factors that make up an
excellent Kaplan teacher. Our teachers are able to address our
students' specific needs and concerns by being both knowledgeable and
approachable. In order to assess these qualities in potential
instructors, we hold group auditions.
WHAT WILL HAPPEN AT THE AUDITIONS?
At the auditions you will be asked to give a five-minute teaching
presentation to Kaplan staff and fellow auditioners. (We will stop
you after 5 minutes.) Interaction with the audience is required. You
will need to prepare a presentation in advance, on the topic of your
choice. Choose a topic with substance that is both interesting and
interactive. Please do not lecture for five minutes; Kaplan
classrooms are interactive ones, and we expect the same from your
presentation.
We recommend that you make preparing your audition more fun by
choosing a topic you find interesting. Do not choose topics that
focus on physical demonstration, such as origami, juggling, and the
like. You should imagine that you are presenting in front of a group
of students, not in front of a group of your peers.
Examples of successful past auditions are "How to Interpret the Label
on a Bottle of Red Wine," "How to Find an Apartment," and "How
Parachutes Work." Our focus, though, will not be what topic you
choose; WHAT WE SEEK TO MEASURE IS YOUR SKILLFULNESS IN TEACHING AND
IN INTERACTING WITH THE GROUP. Plan to be present for up to 3 hours.
HOW WILL AUDITIONS BE EVALUATED?
Auditions are evaluated using the following criteria: (1) Clarity,
(2) Effectiveness and Organization, (3) Ability of presenter to
create an environment of active participation, (4) Use of the
WHITEBOARD, (5) Comfort level of presenter, (6) Time Management (i.e.
effective completion of presentation in allotted 5 minutes), (7)
Professionalism.
Please be sure to treat the audition as the job interview that it is.
Your presentation will be strictly evaluated on the criteria above;
please make sure to thoroughly prepare your presentation accordingly.
You will only have one opportunity to audition, so be sure to make
the most of it.
WHAT TO BRING TO YOUR AUDITION?
Please bring a copy of your scores (NCLEX applicants excluded) and a
copy of your current resume.
