What are people's experiences with job placement agencies? Are there any anyone recommends? I signed up with 5, and got absolutely nowhere. 2 of them had me go in for interviews only to tell me later that the jobs were put on hold or no longer existed. They may get paid based on the number of interviews they do.

Some of them get paid off of having you sign up with them or apply for a job too. I had two never get back to me after sending in my information.

I was showing the job agencies ad postings of other jobs I would be qualified for at the companies they represent. They couldn't even be bothered to call places on my behalf. It's wrong for them also to advertise for pharmacist jobs that don't exist just to collect resumes and get interviews from applicants.

I always wonder about these agencies, they pretty much flood the job search sites. They're generally vague and I always wonder if they're real because every director I've talked to said they just post jobs on their own internal HR sites and get tons and tons of apps.

The only time a recruiter is used is if it's a specialized position needing to be filled (critical care, clinical coord, etc...)

I laugh when I see "NEW GRADS ONLY" on some job postings, too good to be true IMO. The jobs I know about are not online at all.
