Have a good job now with good salary, but getting tired of the city I'm living in, mainly in terms of social life/dating options. Also I don't see myself being clinical the rest of my life, and would like to explore the administrative side of things. There's an opening in a better (but more expensive) city, and googlemaps says 55 min commute without traffic. Pay would probably be the same, still with the government. I'd probably have to stay at my condo for about 4-6 months and do that commute, in order to avoid capital gains--then decide whether to sell or rent it out. Am I insane for even thinking about applying for this? Basically if I apply and back out, people at my current institution likely WILL find out, so I have to be all in if I pursue this.

Have you thoroughly investigated the dating scene at this new city?

Yes. Unlike my current city, it is not full of people who want to run away as far as possible due to fear of robbery or murder. I personally have not been mugged, but many people I know have.

That is good to hear. I have heard seals are easy marks: often seals were helplessly clubbed to death as they tried to flub to water from shore so my condolences to you.

You know what i've been doing? moving around the country renting a "reasonable" home and working for 2-3 years. I'm licensed in 5 states. However, that is over now....you cant find reliable work even in the dregs of the rural communities. I'm out....over and done.

Yeah seems like every few years I want to leave a place...bought here already though. Maybe I should look into an MSL job or something else where I can work remotely--if anyone would even hire me for that.
