Hey everyone! I'm about half way through my postdoc in a university setting and currently looking for my 1st job after I complete my postdoc year. I was wondering if anyone has any advice on job searching after postdoc? I am also studying for the EPPP to get licensed too. That's already overwhelming! :nailbiting: I really want to know how different my C.V. and cover letter are suppose to be for Psychologist jobs versus what I had to apply for postdoc.

I like to hear what other experiences have been with job searching after their postdoc year. Any practical advice or guidance would be much appreciated. Thanks-)

FYI - I just graduated with my Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology and my clinical work has primarily been in university counseling centers. I would like to work in some sort of Outreach position or Diversity/Inclusion Coordinator.

It is different in some ways, as you need to sell yourself more and not focus solely on training goals. You want to be able to link what you have done in the past with the specific job qualifications. You also want to talk about what unique qualifications you have that set you apart from others. There is a database for college counseling center jobs online if that is where you plan on applying.
Unlike, postdoc and internship interviews, many places request more than one interview once they narrow their top choices down. It is important to write a cover letter for each place you apply (at least change a few paragraphs to focus on the specific job) and not use a "form cover letter." CV is pretty much the same with the added postdoc experience, although I know some people suggest putting clinical work higher up on your CV if applying for clinical jobs and research higher up if applying for research jobs.
