Technically, you're supposed to take 20 hrs of credits throughout the 2 years that you are certified before it gets renewed. And since you are probably working in a pharmacy, your knowledge should be maintained sharp. As long as you don't let your certification expire out without renewal, I think longevity is better, but only marginally. Having a certification is only a marginal advantage, so having a marginal advantage of a marginal advantage is.... marginal. :hungover:

good way of putting it when you have to renew it what actually do you have to do just another test or so? im taking classes to become certified but i was wondering how long people stay at techs, do you move up the ladder through time, i heard of a senior tech? new at this so kinda lost

When you renew your certification you have to complete continuing education credits. If you don't complete the set number of CE credits then you have to take the PTCB test over again.

If you are working at Walgreens then you have the opportunity to become a senior technician. Walgreens ideally wants everyone in the pharmacy to be a senior technician so they will do everything in their power to make sure that you get their. Most people become senior techs within a couple of years as a tech.
