Jobs with Masters in Public Health.

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
In terms of big dollar jobs you'll need an MD or possibly a DDS/DMD to go with the MPH in order to get to the high end. If your emphasis is biostatistics or epidemiology or industrial hygene then you won't need the medical degree but your payscale is less than with the medical degree. Overall, most people with an MPH have other degrees like an MBA or medical background or go with an area of emphasis that is in demand. You're likely looking at a best case of a middle class lifestyle and a struggle to find a job (unless you know someone) if all you have is the MPH.

you can get jobs in being an inspector for the govt. for example restaurants, hotels, hospitals and construction sites.
the salary is pretty low compared to dentist or medicine.

Suggestions what do you mean>?
Im going for industrial hygiene bachelors.
the great part about environmental health is that the prerequisites are the same as pre medicine. so you can have a job on the side while your going to graduate school.or if you decide you can stick to it. but like everyone here says its not enough money compared to dentistry medicine or anything in the health field.
heres a link from csun for more info. www.csun.edu/eoh

I received my MPH in Health Policy and Management (which should be akin to Management, Policy, and Comm Health) and went into management consulting. The degree provided me with a solid foundation of the healthcare system from a business standpoint, and the majority of the courses that I took were business courses. With this concentration, there are many areas that you can pursue, if business is something that interests you - consulting, hospital administration, health insurance, etc. Of course in consulting, you can make a very good living (despite what posters here have said), and I was doing so for 5 years until I got burnt out and decided to pursue dentistry. Which brings me to my question - are you considering dentistry and public health, or just public health? If just public health, why are you posting on the dental board?
