Does anyone know whether Johns Hopkins is known to send everyone who applies a secondary application just to get the fee before rejecting them, or if they will reject the people who don't have a chance before the secondary and save them the money?

Pretty much everyone, same with most schools. UCSF is really good about this, in that regard.

At least you have an opportunity to make an impression with the JHU secondary ... some schools are going to make the decision based on AMCAS anyway yet still ask for cash before they do it. Good luck!
