I've been laid out since March, but things finally improving. Will try to be more active as I can tolerate it.

I wouldn't wish what I experienced on my worst enemy. Feeling 100 times better than what I felt like in March and April.

PP world is busy but very rewarding. I am glad I trained at a busy tertiary care program because even though a good portion of your PP patients are healthy, the zebras still come to find you.

Having finished the written boards, oral boards, echo boards, etc., I find myself feeling super relaxed. Almost too relaxed. Starting to focus on multiple business opportunities.

Have to keep up with the literature because you will find that a real paycheck and more time than you know what to do with = recipe for laziness.

UT, you said "echo boards". Did you do a CT fellowship? Or is this something you can take with a certain # of cards cases as a resident?

Used to be you could sit for TEE certification with a certain # of cases, but as of, I think, the grad class of 2008, a fellowship will be required.

UT, how do you like hearts? I'm assuming that your group values the TEE cert, and therefore you do a larger # of hearts cases than others in the group? Sorry if this has been asked before.

Also, is TEE done by anesthesia in interventional cards cases in the cath lab? (i.e. angioplasties/stents) Or is it mostly just CABG's??

Used to be you could sit for TEE certification with a certain # of cases, but as of, I think, the grad class of 2008, a fellowship will be required.

The cutoff date for requirements change is completion of residency by July 1, 2009. Even if you finish after this, you don't have to have a fellowship. There is also the practice experience pathway in which "Applicants must have performed and interpreted at least 300 perioperative transesophageal echocardiograms within four (4) consecutive years immediately preceding application with no less than 50 in any year in which any of the 300 echocardiograms were performed. At least 150 of the 300 transesophageal echocardiograms must be intraoperative. Physicians seeking certification by this pathway must have at least 50 hours of AMA category 1 continuing medical education devoted to echocardiography obtained during the time the physician is acquiring the requisite clinical experience in TEE."

Nah, still around.

Flew to Vegas for the WSOP.....got knocked out early....will eventually post a thread about my trip. Had a great time. Saw all the big guns out there.

Been very busy with life issues lately....and with two little rugrats and all their B Day parties, Tai Kwan Do lessons, swimming lessons, etc, have been spending more time focusing on my lil' shrimps than anything else.
