yup.

well,hi
I was thinking about studying medicine....
and yes, I'm a Jr. in highschool

and i was wondering if you could advise me with classes, outside activities that you did. and something about PCAT? [accrd. to a professor from UT, i have to take Pharmacy College Admission Test in order to apply for UT medicine. wondering, if anyone knows about that.]

thanks so much!

you have to take the mcat for medical school admissions, the pcat is to get into UT's pharmacy school

ohhhh
okay.
thank you so much

I don't know of any Med Schools that require you to take the PCAT for med admission. As far as studying Medicine in Utah, I think the only med school is University of Utah. No DO schools, and to apply to Utah you have to be a resident of Utah, Idaho (5 spots), or if from another state; you must have 'strong ties to Utah.'

MCAT = Medical College Admissions Test

Study hard in high school and get into a good college.

Chose a major that YOU LIKE, not one that you think will "look good."

Study hard at your college science courses.

Meet lots of girls and have a good time.

Join a fraternity, volunteer at a hospital, do some scientific research, go to parties, drink beer, run for PreMed club president, play intramural sports.

How do you become a successful medical school applicant? Easy.

Be a well rounded person who knows how to work his ass off when necessary, party hard when necessary and realize that humility is the single greatest trait that future physician can ever possess.

Best of luck.

JP, you are so right on.

the only other thing I would add/stress is don't "pad" your application with stuff you think will look good. Do something you are passionate about. Want to do research watching fungus grow? If you're excited about it, DO IT. Likewise, if the sight of blood makes you pass out, perhaps ER volunteering isn't for you.

don't ask us what you need to look good. Do what you ENJOY, what really gets your mojo going. do something that puts a gleam in your eye that you think is just cooler than cool and you'll do just fine. (Oh, and get good grades to keep up your GPA and study hard for the MCAT.)
