Thoughts?

Verbal 461, 99
Biology 446, 97
Reading 410, 69
Quant 420, 82
Chem 418, 78
Composite 431, 95

Obviously I am happy with the composite...but concerned that the chem will be an issue for any top schools...

I used Collins, and thought that was most helpful for verbal and quant. Organic chem and biochem suprised me, I was expecing basic stuff and I started to panic halfway though. Biology was similar to the practice pearson tests...very random (some really easy and some crazy hard).

Verbal - 412 / 68
Biology - 407 / 55 🙁
Reading - 452 / 99
Quant - 434 / 93
Chemistry - 438 / 93
Composite - 429 / 94

I was fine with this test other than the fact bio screwed me over big time. A ton of things I never even studied, and the fact that I didn't take microbio probably didn't help at all....

How on Earth did you get 99 on reading? Also, how did you manage all those organic chemistry questions on the exam?

Hi I know you already stated how you studied for the PCAT but may you please give some details? I took the PCAT today and it was bad I am very upset. May I please know what exactly you went over (e.g. kaplan/dr. collins 2011-2012 or 2012-13, pearson etc) I don't know how I should study for Biology and Reading. Thank you. I appreaciate it if you could help me out🙁

By the way congtrats happy you did so well 🙂 thanks for sharing...

How'd you do man?

I really bombed the QA section.. I haven't had calculus or physics yet and it hurt me a lot.

Dr collins was good for Bio and Chem, both were my highest scores (although they are my best areas already), but I felt the collins material definately was good stuff.

Reading was very tough... how should I prepare for that? I didn't study for it, didn't even crack open the collins material over reading since I assumed I'd be ok for it.. bad mistake.

I got a 95% too!! :soexcited: (I've always wanted to use this smiley!!!)
I had to flag over 10 Quant problems and had less than 5 minutes to go back and guess/answer them. I miraculously got a 98% in Quant. Reading killed me though! 🙁

I didnt do as well as I expected. Did you study Dr collins 2012-2013? i mean the new one? I don't know what happened but Biology and Reading was so bad. Chem was good and also QA. for QA you need to practice practice and practice math for better understanding and speed.

Ya I honestly did 1 QA practice test and that was it.. I'm in Chem2 and API right now so I wasn't able to study as much as I would've liked to.

I have collins from 2010. I wonder if the new stuff would've helped..

Verbal 412 / 68%
Biology 466 / 99%
Reading 405 / 60%
Quantitative 460 / 99%
Chemistry 463 / 99%

Composite 441 / 98%

Verbal and Reading killed me lol. Still pleasantly surprised at my composite score though 🙂

Hey congratz 🙂 Can you please share how you studied? and the years when the materials you studied were published ( e.g. dr. collins 2012-2013...) Thank you.

today is obviously not my day 🙁 I definitely have to retake🙁 RA is hard and long, and I didn't have enough time to finish QA, now I know I had an issue of time management.) And the computer I used was frozen for three times, lost my time in vain but there was nothing I could do. I guess Sept is my only hope now.

I'm sorry that sucks to hear about the comp freezing, that is ridiculous.

To begin my 1st essay, I found my keyboard had a broken space bar and it took over 5minutes for them to replace it.. I began my essay with like 24min on the clock and it screwed me over... this should never happen to anyone.

Hey prepharm I didn't do well today either, I don't think I studied as much as I should have and weirdly enough ran out of time on the Chemistry portion and had to guess 12 questions 😱

Obviously I can't really give advice on reading comp...I didn't practice at all for that. I would think just doing as many practice passages as possible and looking for trends might help.

For biology, I used Dr.Collins - including the newest updates from Jan 2011. These updates were most helpful. I would say the updates helped more than the original older tests. Also for biology I used textbook websites like below to quiz on each relevant chapter
http://highered.mcgraw-hill.com/sites/0072437316/student_view0/chapter5/chapter_quiz.html

If you haven't taken microbio (i have not) then you should also find some basic websites that can teach you the basics. Hope this is helpful...

How on Earth did you get 99 on reading? Also, how did you manage all those organic chemistry questions on the exam?

Reading I thought was pretty straightforward this time around. Although I will admit when I saw the 99, I was shocked. In reality, if I could switch this score and bio, I would.
I thought Chem was pretty on par with the practice tests. Most of the orgo questions were similar in style to those, so I knew how to tackle them generally.

Very disappointed, but I'll live with it since it was my first time taking it.

The Prelim report reads:

Verbal: 413/ 70
Biology: 411/ 63
RC: 402/ 54
Quant: 407/ 61
Chem: 444/ 95

Composite: 415/ 78.

Took a lot of notes from the other thread on 99%ile club, sucks to come up a little short.

Took today as well!

Verbal 398 / 43%... 🙁 I must've been just not getting it... hopefully schools overlook this one...

Biology 435 / 92%
Reading 431 / 94%
Quantitative 453 / 98%
Chemistry 484 / 99%

Composite: 440 / 98%.
Blah the verbal sucked for me! But, overall, I'm happy with my composite for sure! 🙂

I used Kaplan books and Pearson practice tests!

HI all!

Long time lurker, just registered! 🙂 I took the PCAT today and I'm really, really scared actually: will my Chem and, especially,Quant, hurt me?

Verbal 439/94
Bio 425/84
R Comp 450/99
Quant 407/61
Chem 415/72

Composite 427/92 (yay! I think)

My Quant is lower than I could believe or expected. 🙁 I ran out of time and room on the pad thing.

Is this competitive for UNC-Chapel Hill or Campbell, or will those 2 lower scores hurt me? Will composite help to make the difference, do you think?
Ugh, scared to death. Thanks in advance guys for any, and all, input (which will help prevent my soon-to-be stomach ulcer, ha).

P.S. I used Dr. Collins (but not as much as I should have) and it was amazing. You can google for his site.

long time lurker, decided to finally join...
Is ther anyone who took the kaplan class and jus took the pcat.. if yes, can you elaborate on how it measured up to the actual pcat?
and congrats to all those who don't have to retake it.. love to know how you guys studied...

How did you prepare for your QA and RC? I am having difficulty in those two sections. Any tips will be appreciated .
I took the test on Wednesday Jul 18 and my composite was 59 🙁 and my reading comprehension scorfed 4% and QA scored 51%. I really need to improve those to get into school that i am aiming for since my GPA is barely 3.2. 🙁 Any help would be appreciated.

Wow u did great pls what did you use to study and what would you say helped you the most

Hey all, I finally joined after lurking for a while, too. Took the PCAT today and got:

Verbal - 437 / 94%
Biology - 418 / 74%
Reading - 473 / 99%
Quantitative - 407 / 61%
Chemistry - 399 / 45% 😡

Composite - 427 / 92%

I'm fairly pleased with my score, as I hadn't studied or prepared at all for the PCAT (did Kaplan earlier this summer for the DAT, though, which I found MUCH more difficult) Not really sure how I ended with a 92 composite, seeing as I saw someone who posted earlier today get higher scores than me on everything except verbal and reading with the same composite score...

Hey guys, long time lurker, finally decided to join!

Verbal - 49
Biology - 95
Reading Comp. - 81
Quantitative - 77
Chemistry - 97
Composite - 91

Hoping that verbal score doesn't keep me from getting into my school of choice. Happy with everything else though!

I am in the SAME boat as you! I don't know when I'm going to be able to retake the PCAT though because I start full time courses in the fall 😕

I just took it today too

Verbal 385 22% 🙁
Biology 434 91% 😀
Reading 366 6% 😕
Quantitative 442 96%
Chemistry 449 97%
composite 415 78% 😡

will the verbal and reading effect me a lot? English is my second language by the way

Here are my scores guys!
And a very special thanks to everyone here who helped me calm my nerves before the test!

Verbal: 82%
Biology: 97%
Chemistry: 95%
Reading: 98%
QA: 85% 🙁
Composite: 97%

Overall I thought the test was pretty similar to the practice tests.

I was very pleased with my verbal score because when I took my first practice test (out of the three) like a week ago, I got like a 20%tile...lol.
Also my Reading score really surprised me. It has always been my weakest point on other standardized tests, and I didn't really do anything in this area except the practice tests. However I was able to finish this 7 minutes early because I do skim the passage and pretty much memorize it. Then I answer the questions without having to look back too much. I definitely do not have a photographic memory, but I'm pretty good at picking up the meanings of things.
I ran out of time on Chem and had to guess on a few things.
And QA, oh QA. I knew this was going to be the reason I would not get a 99. I haven't taken Calc since like Junior year in high school...I haven't even touched math since then. I can work out all of the problems...just not in 40 minutes. I think I guessed on ~15 questions. But I made educated guesses xD

Same boat as you! 🙁 My verbal score was terrible. I really hope schools overlook this...

I thought it was hard but everyone did well T_T
I'm planning to retake september...anyone else??

Just think how many people are taking the test and how many ppl post their high scores here? 10 maybe? You don't get a 90% for no reason, so just sit back and give yourself an applause. I am sure Most ppl won't post their scores if it is just ok.
I am pretty happy with mine although my verbal sucked. I was really nervous during the test, I didn't have time to read the last passage in reading, and I had to made some wild guess for the last 2-3 chem and the last 5-6 QA questions, which I knew I can solve given enough time. I thought i did well on verbal, but it was the lowest among all subteats. Things just dont always go your way. But after all, I am happy.

Verbal 67
Bio. 94
Chem. 99
R comp76
QA. 88
Composite 94

I took it today as well:

Verbal- 74
Biology- 89
Reading- 54
Quantitative- 82
Chemistry- 93
Composite- 87

I am pretty happy with my scores, considering that I only used the latest edition of Dr. Collins to study from. I definitely give Dr. Collins a 👍

I really wish I had taken o. chem and any math class before I took it but still satisfactory results.

Verbal 451 98
Bio 430 89
Reading comp 431 94
QA 402 51
Chem 405 56
Composite 424 90

Chem scared me but I called my 1st choice and they said it was fine considering I haven't taken organic chem. I'm having trouble getting pharm experience and it's needed for my application anyone have any tips on this? I don't have pharm tech license btw.

Wow, congrats to all you guys. How y'all do so well, I mean damn. Everyone keeps posting 95+ left and right, lol. Great job.

First time taker here as well:

Verbal - 423 / 82%
Biology - 435 / 92%
RC - 436 / 97%
QA - 405 / 58%
Chemistry - 438 / 93%
Composite - 427 / 92%

The bio and verbal sections seemed insanely hard compared to any practice tests whether they be from Dr Collins or pearson...some really out of left field questions that I would never find the answer to in any PCAT study materials. I guess maybe these were new experimental ones? Disappointed in my QA score, I didn't budget my time correctly and ran out early. With a 80 or so in it I would have been in the upper 90s at least. I'm happy with a 92% composite though.

Verbal - 427 / 87%
Bio - 421 / 79%
Reading Comp - 417 / 81%
Quantitative Ability - 416 / 77%
Chem - 422 / 81%
Composite - 421 / 87%

I may not have gotten in the 90s, but I still feel like it's a pretty strong percentile, and I have good stats otherwise, so I'm pretty satisfied with my scores 🙂
I'm just glad to be done with the test, finally!!

What should I do to prepare for Verbal and Quantitative section..............I did study from Kaplan and DR. Collins..........Nothing help for verbal........

Verbal - 54
Bio - 99
Reading Comp - 98
Quantitative Ability - 61
Chem - 81
Composite - 92

thought i bombed it.. ran out of time on math with ~16questions left. didn't study orgo AT ALL. kaplan is insufficient for math at least. a lot of human phys and micro which is why i think i got a 99 since i just took a+p2 and studied micro on my own because i suck at it.

is this considered a good score with the variation? prob applying to temple/jefferson/usp

Embarrassing results: 8 AM Test
VA 416 / 74
Bio 434 / 91
RC 403 / 56
QA 407 / 61
CH 408 / 61
Composite: 414 / 76

Verbal: 461/99 😀
Biology: 440/95
Reading: 413/75
Quant: 430/91
Chem: 455/98

Composite: 440/98

How is my Reading score going to affect admissions for me for top programs?

Verbal-43
Bio-89
Reading-81
Quant-88
Chem-75

Composite-81

Didn't know what happened on Chem and Quant. It's my second time taking it. I got 95 on Chem and 97 on Quant on the first time. Will the schools take my first time grades into account?

I have taken the PCAT twice, the fist one was bad and the 2nd one was way better but still not what I want nor need. I used the Dr Collins review both times and it don't seem to be working any Ideas on what I should do because I just registered again for September
