Hey guys, I'm taking the MCAT this June 16th, and was wondering if it would be better to submit my AMCAS early (June 1st) or send in the application a couple of days after the MCAT so that I have some extra, quality time to tweak my application/personal statement?

Not sure how much this matters, but I am applying ED with a deadline of August 1st.

Thanks for the help.

You can submit AMCAS and apply to one school before you get your MCAT results. That way your app is verified early and ready to go when you get your score. Also, some schools that send out automatic secondaries (GWU comes to mind) will send you the secondary without your MCAT score so you may want to apply to those so you can get started on the secondaries during your down month.

I'm in the same boat as you with the June 16th MCAT and wanting a couple extra days to work on my app. Looked up past years' AMCAS verification dates (which is the main issue in submitting later).

so, after taking the MCAT, if you take between a week, a week and a half to get the AMCAS done (submit 06/28), people seemed to get verified at around 3rd week of July (07/19-07/22), which is right around the score release date, so you should have a completed, verified app by then.

As JSU said, you could use the time inbetween to work on your secondaries. Could probably look up the prompts to schools if you haven't actually received them yet.

Thanks for the help, guys! It looks like I'll wait til after the MCAT to apply.
