Hi guys,

I'm currently a junior taking physical chemistry for biochemistry majors. I find the class to be pretty hard and currently have a B- or a B. I am also overloading with 3 extra credits this semester, as I did last semester. Other science classes I'm taking now include Biochemistry II, Calc. based Physics II, and sustainability science (easy bio course). My current sGPA is 3.58 and oGPA is 3.67. My question here is how bad would a B- look in second semester junior year to adcoms? I plan on applying this summer and have already taken the DAT, and have an upward trend in GPA, but I am worried this grade will make my upward trend look less significant. I've read that the p.chem is really hard, but I have no idea how adcoms look at it...any insight on this? Thanks guys!

General tip, a B- is usually better than a W. People assume a W is lower than a B-. If you had a low gpa and really couldn't afford anther bad grade maybe....but I say stick it out if it isn't hurting your other grades. If you do not have the option of dropping then do the best you can....there isn't much you can do.

It's so crazy how I'm in the same situation as you... I'm in p.chem right now, as well as orgo 2 and biochem 1. I thought about taking a W as the course was extremely difficult, but after the first test, I decided to stick with it! Even if you get a B in the class, the adcoms know it's one of the toughest classes you had to take in undergrad.
Stick with it! You got this!!!

I wasn't planning on taking a W, I'd much rather have a B-

--I don't think it would kill my GPA, just bring it down a little, but the difficulty of the class I hope would be considered
