We all are struggling to be a Dentist here in US. We are spending a lot of time studying for Boards and etc. We are gonna pay a lot of money to get in a Dental School.
My question is:
Does anyone have idea how much a Dentist makes a year here in USA?

I hope it's a good money.

not too good as expected. at least not as good as doctors. average from 80,000-120,000/year. What made me sad is that I heard a lot of saying those who can not make the meds schools turn into dental schools instead...

Wow. If you think dentists are doing "not too good as expected", I would certainly reconsider wasting all your time applying for programs. Don't you think ?

Just because we put a lot of effort to apply for the programs and we, of course, have higher expectation. ....but it turns out "not too good"🙁
It seems you are very happy with what you earn and deserve😎

emma429 didnt show any regret of "wasting all her time applying for programs". She may be disappointed, because it's not as good as we had heard before we came here.

I heard that the IDP loan would be paid back in 6 months! So I was somehow disappointed when I knew the reality. But I don't regret my decision of coming to the States, because I discovered here how much I need to be the dentist that I want to be, and the superiority of dentistry in the US is not a myth.

Emma429 be yourself! don't listen to anybody. I got accepted in Med school but went to Dental school instead because I love this profession! I know some people try to choose Med as their first priority. However, it is me who choose what is the best for me! Although all of my family members are doctors. But I still love this profession and I am proud to be a dentist. And I believe we all do. So just ignore that people, I think they just jealous with our profession!

Again regarding how much you make after graduate - it depends! some dentist can make more than a doctor! it all about you, if you work hard, love your profession you will success! Even some people who only graduated from college can made more than doctor and dentist because they work hard. Don't look at those average number...look at the range what is the min and max of each profession and you will find out the answer!

Regarding a loan, from what I heard from my friends, it take about 6-7 years. But then we will get another loan to buy a house or practice after that and take another 15-20 years to pay off!
Well, we still lucky compare to the regular DDS/DMD students, the place I work right now, my boss still have to pay her loan after 15 years out from dental school!
