Hi all
I was wondering that we all are trying our best to get into an advanced standing program but have we thought its the scope of it in US.
In order to pay our fees we all will be taking a loan of $100k-$200k. Is it worth it??
Once we are done with the DDS degree we will be working hard to pay off the loan and then will be taking another loan of abt $100k to set up our own clinic. By the time we pay off the loans and start to earn we will be in our thirtees. We will well off financially only in our middle age, when we will not even be able to enjoy our life. If it is a girl all the more difficult as she will have to manage family as well. (Also, day by day there is more saturatin of dentists and 40% dentists are having losses)
What do you guys say?? This thought has been troubling me since the last few days. Pls advise

Well, Indian dentist....everybody has there own outlook. If you think it this way then I would suggest you reconsider yr plan of staying here. Or else go the long way via residency(I am sure you understand that option too). But whats the point you grow old anyways and have restricted expenditure. And if you do residency you still wont be able to set up yr own practice. So basically you end up where you started at. I assume you are a married girl in USA and you are not here with your own free will??

Friends all students who pass out in America from a professional school let it be dental, medical , engineering etc come out with huge debts. And they all go to school to get better jobs-> better income and hence better life. Some of them take help from parents to pay it off and others do it themselves. But remember you make that much money too.....if you get the right job and according to yr capability. I personally know so many American dentists who are paying their student loans off and pvt practice set up loans too....and at the same time having a life definitely above average. The loans can be paid off if you plan things carefully and good right now. Many factors go into having a successful and happy life. And one of them is Good guidance and Better planning.

So dont give up hope and keep going. All the very best to all out there who are working hard to a bright future. 👍

hi,
i totally agree with finish line...u have this condition everywhere...imagine in ur own country whereever it may b ..u need a loan to start ur own practice and then i takes time for u to earn and settle the debt...so it is not like whether it is advisable to do it or not but everybody here are taking a chance...thats all...so ..lets just give it a try...and c ...its not gonna hurt anyway..

all the best ...
take care..
