I had my AADSAS application completed in the first week of July and it was mailed out August 9th. My extra curriculars are awesome, but my grades are below average - GPA: 3.22, sGPA: 3.19, BCP: 3.15. I am in graduate school now hoping to attain my M.S. in Biology.

My DAT from last summer went as follows: AA17, OC17, CHM17, BIO17, RC20, QR16, PAT20.

I just retook the DAT Monday and it went something like this: AA19, OC21, CHM20, BIO19, RC17, QR16, PAT22

Given my QR and RC scores may bruise me a bit; I hate to be just another one of those guys to ask this, but since it's later in the application cycle (even though my application is being or will be reviewed in the near future - no rejections yet), what do you think my chances will be for this cycle?

I immediately e-mailed all my schools to let them know I retook the DAT and that they should be receiving official documentation within the next few weeks.

Schools are: Southern Illinois, Illinois @ Chicago, Marquette, BU, Tufts, Louisville, Detroit Mercy, and Nova. I'm not sure if this will serve to my advantage or not, but this is my second time applying to dental school.

Opinions would be appreciated.

Scores look better and your science average is around 20, so not bad.

I'd say Nova is a longshot since they are setting up late interviews at this point, but I don't know much about the other schools except there hasn't been a whole lot of interview invites from Tufts and BU yet...they just started sending out invites these last few weeks.

I'd say fair chances...if you had the scores from the 2nd DAT the first time around, I would've said good, but time hurts.

I agree that time is not on your side. Other than that, your DAT is in the range of average admitted scores. With your ECs I would say that you are in a reasonable position. The strongest disadvantage is that you are late in the cycle. If you did fantastic on the DAT then I wouldn't be worried. However, you did towards the average area. Good luck.

your scores are decent, but your low QR score and RC score may hurt you at some schools.

For the love of all things holy, please consider adding NYU.. it has the largest class size.. its the only school i know of that accepts certain students without interview.. and i hear they are improving the school in many ways so it aint that bad :-D...

Yes its expensive but your main goal is to get into dental school this year, right??!?

If you are an IL resident, than you have a good shot at UIC and SIU. They just started handing out interviews a week or so ago. Detroit hasn't started interviewing yet, and I'm not sure about the others. I agree with the above that you should add NYU. Good luck.

hi i just want to know what were your reading com. passages and in what city did u take the test. thank you

Did you apply to d-schools last year with those stats or did you hold off until you retook the DAT?

yes i applied last year. sad i know, but hopefully i'll at least look a little more appealing the second time around.

i'm basically banking on my state schools (luckily i have two). I'll consider adding NYU but isn't it too late for that? i mean it takes aadsas around 4 weeks just to mail the printout. would it still be worth it?

and i want to thank some of you for your input. though humbling, at least it's honest.

do you honestly think me telling you my passages will help you with your test? or is this some sort of sick trap?

either way i'm not telling anyone about the dat itself.

slow your roll. most people, when they take the DAT,post their scores and how they think the test went, and end up posting the topics of their RC. its not a big deal, and its not so specific that its going to kill your chances of getting in if you tell her(search it,most everyone that posts their scores posts RC topics). btw princessmelissa:i got calcium, aging, and hospital infections.

I wouldn't worry too much about AADSAS being slow. You never know. I submitted an additional school on September 29th and the school already emailed me to say they've recieved my application.

Just a thought.
