Hey,

Does anyone know what an application for residency matching looks like?
What kind of things do they ask for?
Is it like medical school application AMCAS where you list your activities?

I would hate to go through it again in few years struggling to fill out all the lines of activities laundry lists.

Is there any way I can take a look at a sample app?

Thanks,

CY.

Yes, it's very similar to AMCAS (I'm going to assume here that AMCAS hasn't changed much in the last 4 years). You still list activites/volunteer work/jobs etc. So that well rounded stuff you've been doing your whole life...it doesn't end.

Are extracurricular activities as impt. in residency apps as they were in med school apps?
Thanks

They can be used to differentiate between equally (academically) qualified applicants. I use them as topics of conversation during interviews if we share some interests. I have had to "warn" those whose ECs threatened to take over their life, that they'd have to scale back during residency. No need to go overboard. 😀
