Just decided Pharmacy

Hey, I just decided I'm going to pursue pharmacy. I've done research about the profession itsself etc etc.. right now I'm a Biochem Major, Junior with a 3.0 GPA. Just wondering if right now my chances are looking out of the question of if I'm just going to be a boarderline student applying to a ton and hoping someone accepts me? What are some of the generally "less" competitive schools? Sorry if I come off bad but please don't flame me for my questions 😛 Generally how is Nova? It would be my first choice since I go to UMiami and I absolutely love South Florida.

Welcome to Pre-pharmacy - Looks like you have been on the board for awhile - but in the dental section (we wont hold it against you).

To start with - check out the prepharmacy FAQ at the top of the forum - it has a LOT of information you may find useful. I would also check out the WAMC (what are my chances?) thread that is also stickied at the top of the forum.

As to your question about easier schools - you will no doubt figure that out in time (a search would quickly get you an answer) - a better question is why do you want an easier school?

If you are willing to choose which school to go to based on how easy they are to get in - you'll be shocked when you find out you need to study for 3 to 4 years and pass a national board + state law board before being able to practice. In short - starting out with the path of least resistance is a bad idea...

Read up on what pharmacy is - take your time and know your motivations - use the search function to the max - and if you have more questions - feel free to post up.

FYI: I don't really know anything about NOVA but be aware that it was placeed on probation by the ACPE. Check out the following thread:

Generally the schools that most people consider "easy" have an even greater number of applicants to those schools because of that reason. Just because it is "easy" doesnt mean anything.

Just do the things that make you a competitive applicant anyways and not worry about just getting in with a lower GPA.
