Hello,

I am not sure how to make matching happen for me. I just found out today that I failed CK. The CS score is still pending. I already have a history of a second attempt on my Step 1. I really would like to match into OB, but I'm not sure how that's going to happen now.

... I'm just really confused as to what's the best next step. Take the year off? or Push through, and make it to match this year? If it can even happen at all.

1st things first - Don't re-transmit your CK score (hopefully it is set to manual re-transmit rather than auto on your ERAS).

Second thing - Barely breaking 200 on practice tests for CK is NOT a place I would recommend anyone to actually take the real thing. My recommendation to people is to comfortably above about 220 on practice tests before taking the real thing. The main thing you have to focus on now is passing on your second attempt and having the score back before the rank lists are due (which is February). Study your ass off and get it done. I wouldn't take a year off just for Step 2, as that will be a 3rd major red flag (besides Step 1 and CK failure) on your application. Take vacation blocks, easy 4th year rotations, or whatever else you need to do to pass Step 2 on your second attempt.

I'm assuming you are an AMG, correct? If you are a IMG/FMG your options are going to be much more limited.

Thanks for the response. It's much appreciated. Also, any tips on how to overcome this test taking anxiety problem? Would taking it in a Nov too soon?

How do I know if its set to auto update my ck? This is what it says on my USMLE Transcript. I know it's straight forward, but I'm a little paranoid.

"Retransmit Instructions

To retransmit your USMLE transcript when new scores are available -
YOUR ACTION IS REQUIRED

Click on the Retransmit button to have your updated transcript sent to ALL programs that previously received it.

You can click on Retransmit only ONCE a day - this button will be disabled for 24 hours after you make your request"

log onto myeras and look at ADTS. it will give you a date as to when your last uslme transcripts are sent. If it was sent before the date your scores came out, the programs will not know.

As the above poster as mentioned, do not retake the test unless your scoring comfortably in the 220s. You do not want to fail this test twice. Try using Master the boards 2. I thought it prepared me reasonably well. Best of luck

Thanks. Justed checked ADTS and it was updated a couple of days before when I added a few more programs. I guess I did that just in time.

I'm starting with MTB again just to get back up to speed and focusing on questions. It's kind of hard to stay focus without being discouraged.

I think if it says 'Click on the Retransmit button' then you have it set properly. Don't click that until your passing CK score comes in.

As for whether adding new programs would allow them to see your CK failure, I'm not sure. I would ask that specific question in this forum: http://forums.studentdoctor.net/forumdisplay.php?f=190
