I am stoked. Just got a letter from USC for an interview for November 12th. Pretty excited. Couldn't even work today at Walgreens. The drive thrus (plural) suck!!!! But that didn't matter cuz I got a letter today. Anyone else received a letter from them? Wish you all the best of luck!!!! 😀

I think USC is doing it a little different this year. On the letter, they want us to write a letter (300 max, ds) stating what you did to prepare for this career in pharmacy. And then they want you to send out the letter as an attachement with a confirmation email to them that you want to attend the interview. They said that we could bring the 300 max letter to the interview too and that we could use it during the interview. Now that's new. Anyone else heard about this? Any comments?

from what i heard..they are going to compare the essay that you email to them with the written portion of the interview. They're just checking for consistency.

From what I've heard, the interviewers know nothing about you. But I am not so sure. A student from USC told me that they don't know anything about you. But that was last year. I don't know about this year. I guess just be prepared for anything.

Right now November is the only interview. They don't give another one till Jan. Sounds like you guys will be the first to go. In a way it's kinda nice to go first. Mine is at 11:40.

Well it's a Saturday so you won't be seeing too much traffic. But then again, you want to get there early and talk to the students. Plus you have to make sure you don't get lost over there. Since your interview is at 8:30 I would try to get there at the latest 8 am. Good luck and I'll be seeing you there!

Man.. I am getting nervous now.... hahaha... I've spent about two hours reading the feedback page on sdn and about an hour reading the school web site. This is insane. Now I have to sit and start brainstorming for the essay that we have to write and send it by NOv 3rd.

thanks for all the congrats. I am not a Trojan just yet. But you're right I am getting closer. I just have to nail the interview. Man, it's nerve wracking cuz my GPA is not the best (3.2). But I do have a BS, 3 years of pharmacy experience, volunteers and play sport in college. Pretty much the same stats as everyone else. I guess the real determinant factor now is how well I do on November 12th. Any tips? Thanks....

I'm almost done too 😛 It's just that my word count keeps fluctuating around 300 like a sine function: y= 300 + 20sinX.

I finished mine..and it wasn't easy... I had a hard time keeping it under 300 words as well. It says somewhere in the letter that it must be sent as a "Word" format...so I assume that it should sent as an attachment. Good luck!

Will the upcoming interview be a group or one-on-one interview? How many prof-current student pair are they gonna have to accommodate all these applicants... 😕

You are right. This is the first year that they are having all applicants write an essay before the interview. But since it's only 300 words and you could use this during the interview, I think it's for the interviewers to see what you have done so that they could ask you more specific questions based on what you've written down (after all the interviewers don't know anything about you). Whatever you wrote down will be asked during the interview. So you better have a good explanation to why you listed those items. That's my guess. Don't quote me on it.

I dont know for sure but that's what I am leaning on. It's just weird that they make you write it and they said that we can use it during the interview.
