Just got DAT Destroyer, took a test and failed miserably.

I'm planning on taking the DAT over next summer but I'm starting to review now.

I have not had Org II yet but did pretty well in organic 1. I took bio some time ago (2yrs), I also got the Bio AP Cliffs to review.

The bio section had some things that I don't really remember talking about or reading about and I couldnt conceptualize the answer, same goes for the organic and general chem. I'm somewhat worried now that may be forshadowing how I'll do on the real DAT.

As for reviewing what's the best way? I have less then a year I hope I'll be able to step up my game because right now I'll be going to grad school instead of Dental school🙁

Don't sweat the Orgo. I had both OChem classes (and did very well in them) prior to picking up the destroyer, and like yourself, I began questioning my abilities after taking the test. I split the questions up into 20 question sections, and was getting only 50-60% correct on most sections. This was VERY frustrating for me, because I felt like I really had a good grasp on the concepts. Bottom line: destroyer orgo is over the top. It is a good tool, but don't let it frustrate or discourage you. Given this, I still ended up with a 23 on the orgo section.

P.S. A lot of the material will be very difficult for you to grasp without the second orgo class under your belt. I'm sure that you can do it, but you're going to have to work very hard.

Good luck.

Thanks for the encouragement Jamie, I'm taking organic II during the spring so that should help. I will be breaking this up then into sections and go from there :

I got all 12s and 13s on my first DAT...few months later I scored a 22 academic overall...you prep for a full year, you should bang it out...

I know kids who only studied hard a month or two and scored 24+

Don't worry about the DAT because of a practice test score...everyone starts off low

I never studied a single roadmap.

Personally, I found the road-maps to be quite helpful. I cut a hole in the middle of a note-card to hide all of the surrounding rxns and passed it over each reaction/reagent, and then checked my answer after. Whatever works - everyone is different.

My first Kaplan test I scored a 16 I think, don't worry everyone starts low.
