Hi guys, hope you are all doing great, this is huge and I didn't imagine that I would be overwhelmed this early, I got my Ck result and taking Cs in few weeks I know it is too late but I was wondering if I make the application ready can I find a spot anywhere at anything tell the next year match. My scores aren't good step1 229 step 2 200!!!!! I know but I did all I can. Or can guys suggest where I can find a research position so I can build a credit and get more experience. I really need an advisor on that and if it is possible to Skype or e-mail that would great.

I don't think anyone can give you any useful advice without knowing (1) what field you want to go into, (2) whether you are IMG, (3) what kind of research, networking, CV experience you already have. (4) whether you did okay in med school, etc. For example, your numbers may be fine if you are a US grad looking to match into a less competitive field and are willing to relocate.

Thanks for this direction, I am IMG and I know those number are putting me in a bad situation I graduated a year ago from Egypt and I am looking for general surgery but again with those numbers I know it might be impossible I am also shooting for peds and cardio in internal medicine so I thought research her might give me a boost and a good credit before the application I want to get on some clinical research and hopefully get my name on some published papers and get recommendation letters I did good in school very good with honor it is like B+ my cv doesn't have much and that's what I am trying to build now by research and rotations

Your scores are not that bad for a non clinical/surgical residency for a IMG. There are only a few specialties like path, psych, etc that you can apply to with those scores, but you definitely need some previous experience and research!!! On the other hand if you decide to build up your cv with research, one year, even in clinical research is nothing....you can't expect to have a paper published in that time, impossible, and I'm not even talking about basic science/benchwork, that requires at least 2 years.....If I were you try to do observerships, get to know people and try to make someone love you, so at least you have some internal leverage. (BTW of course I'm an IMG) GL!!!!
