Just received my DAT scores, should I retake, or just go for it?

Hello Pre-dental/ Dental Community,
I just received my score 30 minutes ago and I was hoping you could give me an answer on what to do now...
I got a...
PAT: 20
BIO: 18
GC:20
OC:20
RC:15
QR: 15
Total SC:19
AA:18

I know those 15s are going to KILL my application, can I still apply? If i need to retake it, any advice on how I can get my reading comp and Math up? Because I dont know how too....Should I be happy with my score? or Sad? At this point I'm really bumbed about it I assume I will need to retake it.?

My GPA btw, is 3.6 over all and 3.4 Science.

You gotta retake. You can indicate on your app that you are retaking. I'd retake right at the 3 month mark if you want a chance this cycle. You will probably be dealing mainly with post-December interviews... but that's okay! An interview is an interview.

Check the ultimate breakdown collection thread in my signature. You'll find exactly what resources to use.

If you don't feel like retaking at the end of August, I might just suggest applying to your state school(s) and seeing how things go. Otherwise, I'd just plan to try again next year.

Its a tough call, although QR is seen as one of the "less important" sections the 15s might hurt you for schools with cut offs. Some schools will have cut offs for certain sections at a 17. If you decide to retake the DAT , for the math section the Math Destroyer helped me.

Yes those 15s are going to kill your app, and yes you should still apply but plan for retake.

Thanks team, I thought Math Destroyer was A LOT harder than the real DAT. Any recommendations on how I can increase my Reading? I was honestly surprised on my reading and math scores..because I really thought I did well.

I got multiple acceptances with two 16s and a 17AA. Stay positive.

Practice and practice and keep on practicing on Math. I think the hardest part about the QR is that the time is limited. Thus, you have to learn how to answer the questions correctly in the shortest time possible.

As for reading, use the "search and destroy" method. 🙂

Math Destroyer is a lot harder than the actual DAT, but that's what is so great about it. It made the actual QR section relatively easy IMO (not trying to brag). I got a 22 on QR, but haven't had a math class in 12 or 13 years. I watched Chad's videos to start, followed up by Khan Academy videos, and then I went to work with Math Destroyer. I must have completed tests 1-7 about 5 times each. Provided you memorize the equations in Math Destroyer, know your trig IDs and the unit circle, you should be fine.
