I jsut recieved my August MCAT scores. I BLEW the test. I have a 3.5 overall, and a 3.2 science. I just scored horrible on the MCAT. Let me just say it was less than a 20🙁 I did not apply to any MD scools, so I am not worried there. Should I send my scores out to the DO schools that I applied to, or should I wait until I retake it in January? If so, do I need to let the schools know that I am retaking for this year in January, or do I just not send them in? How does it work. What should I do?

unless you have something absolutely amazing in your application.....you know your chances are slim just as well as I do....retake it...

Is the science GPA 3.0?
The chances are going to be fairly slim but it depends on your overall app.

well, considering they will see both scores...I would say send it out now and let them know you are retaking. AND, you never know, like said before, if you have something great in your profile it could make up for it.

so, at least everything will be in their hands but the new MCAT score.
GOOD LUCK!

you better nail the MCATS in january since you're going to be fighting a very late admissions process. Id say work your ass off this year and raise your gpa then take the april MCATS and apply next year. A year off really doesnt mean a thing in the long run!

Apply next year when you can be early, you can kick butt during the April MCAT, and would have raised your GPA a little. That would be your best bet for a successful round of applications. However, you can not claim that you have not applied to medical school before.

If you do take the January MCAT, can you be sure your score can jumbe 6+ points? If not, then you may have a great difficulty since you'll be late in the process and your MCAT would not be as competitive. As I said above, do yourself a favor and hold off.

are you crazy , use what you have for now .i know 3 of my friends applied

with 18 and 19 in MCAT last year and got accepted with 3.8 GPA

you never know ,and keep in your mind that you may reenter the MCAT

eh double post!

Everyone lets please be honest. With a score below 20 you will honestly have little to no chance of getting in this cycle. I am not trying to be mean just realistic. Every year the app cycle gets more competative and even with DO schools, yes the MCAT does get heavily weighted. Work your butt off and study like never before and retake the MCAT. Stroke it next time and you should be good to go.

it may be a long shot, but no one can tell you you wont get in. only the adcom can. are there other stellar parts of your app? if you can afford it, go for it. apply broadly. you know the deal.
