Just submitted to AMCAS yesterday and woke up to two seondaries. Huh?

I submitted my app yesterday. I was under the impression that, after submitting, I would be waiting 4-6 weeks to process. I was confused and surprised this morning when I woke up to two secondary requests in my inbox. Clearly I misunderstood something, anyone able to offer their insight? Thank you.

Also I just saw that NYMC requires biochem. Unfortunately I did not take it. I'm sure it's a long shot but would Intro to Biochem substitute? Thanks for any and all help.

Some schools send primaries before verification.

Thanks for the response. Do you know the answer to my second question? I sent the school an email asking but I am anxious to know. Thank you.

Call the school to confirm if it satisfies the requirement. If not, you can send them an update saying that you will take the necessary class to satisfy it prior to matriculation.

Your question confused me, which is why I didn't initially answer it. Aren't most entry level classes called 'Intro to Biochem'? That's what it was called at my school and it's what every premed who needs a biochem class takes.

Double check with the NYMC discussion thread, but I believe if you've graduated already you can satisfy the biochem requirement with Orgo II for this year.

If you haven't graduated, you would need to take it before matriculating.

This. Wtf are you talking about OP?

At my school, there were two separate courses: Intro to Biochem and Biochem. Didn't realize that wasn't the standard. Thanks for the help, everyone.

Was the intro to biochem an upper level course? or at least above Ochem? Or was it like a nursing majors prereq?

OP's question is valid. My college had Intro to Chemistry, Gen Chem 1, and Gen Chem 2. The
intro" class was a lower course number and wouldn't satisfy the requirement.

I second that you need to ask NYMC what they think, or maybe your pre-med adviser if that is easier.

It's valid but OP, you should be fine. Just make sure the class isn't like a 100 level class meant for nursing/allied health/kiniesology students and you should be fine.
