Hey guys!

My scores were:

Section Score Percentile

PAT 17 50.7
QR 22 93.8
RC 23 92.0
BIO 20 89.5
GC 23 93.8
OC 20 80.4
TS 21 92.8
AA 22 96.1

HAVE A QUESTION: Do you think that schools focus more on PAT than the AA. I read somewhere that PAT is the single most important score. If that is the case, then I have some reason to worry. Please advice.

MY advice:

There were all those posts that say that DAT achiever is good prep...I say amen to that. Know those tests in and out.

PAT: I don't think I should comment on PAT because my score was average and to tell the truth I did not do much practice for it. I should have in hindsight, but oh well, can't undo what's done can you? Used Barron's to learn basics, then took one Kaplan test and got 19 after which I got smug and dint prepare that much. The last few days I was worried because my DAT achiever scores on PAT weren't good (made 14, 16, 16). But then postponing the test wasn't an option for me.

BIO: I found Bio harder than expected actually. I was thinking that the real test would be a breeze since I am very good at Bio. But there were questions where you need to know detailed things...but these were far and few between. So if you know the KAPLAN blue book you should be fine for an above average score.

CHEM: kaplan blue book; questions were very basic

OCHEM: kaplan blue book; questions were very basic

RC and QR: dint prepare for these at all because I just took GRE and I also have pretty good reading comprehension. In QR, know standard deviations, there were no celsius to farenheit conversions but other ppl on SDN have had them. No prob and stats. Overall found QR real easy but I am quite good at math due to a very strong foundation. (I learned Calculus in high school)

I just wanted to help others because I learned so much from this site.

Also browse the pages where people have posted their experiences on the DAT- you will get good tips on where to focus and highlight these areas during your reviews.

That's all for now folks.

Congratz. Your scores looks like mine. However, I talked to a few dentists and they said AA matters more to admission. They wouldn't comment on a PAT score unless it is below a 17.

Take care,
Rich

pat 17

qr 25
bio 20

oc 22

aa 22

uop looks at pat highly...most others schools weight aa more.

Excellent job, catchmehere44. A PAT score of 17 with a pecentile of 50.7 is assuredly a great blessing in disguise. You could have gotten worse if another set of PT test had been administered for you instead... cuz some people got 17 but had significantly higher percentile (~ 70+ %). Good thing dental schools don't dwell on that but your discrete score alone... I'm sure you're going to get in somewhere this year with those great scores accomplished... 👍 👍 🙂

Might sound irritating to some but I am not able to fully unwind because of my anxiety regarding the PAT score...maybe I will call and find out from the schools. I dont knw where I read it but somewhere I am sure I read that dental schools would weigh PAT more...but it's nice to hear that some of you have experienced otherwise

Does ADA really take 3 weeks to process additional score reports? It says so on their website. If this is true, it will take forever for AADSAS to send my application to the two additional schools I want to apply to.

Thanks for all the input guys!

The PAT score is NOT weighed more than the AA. However, at most schools, it is weighed more than QR, RC, TS, and the individual science scores.

I second what JavadiCavity said. He knows what's up. 🙂

Does this mean that I have to worry.
Please explain on what you commented earlier.
Thanks a lot for your advice.
In plain simple english. He is saying dont worry! Lol, I worry a lot too. That is not a good trait. Just chill out and congratulate yourself on a job well done. Expect interviews n stuff soon too.

Take care,
Rich
