Your AA score should be no lower than 1-1.5 points below the mean of the schools you intend to apply to. Your GPA should be no lower than 0.1-0.2 points below the mean.

I think those scores are competitive. Will you please elaborate on the test a little a tell us what you thought of it.. was it hard? Harder than what you prepped for? I mean was it what you expected? any info would be appreciated.

i think you should retake. You will be thrown at the bottom of the pile initially with those stats. I had a 18 aa last year.

i'm going to be honest with you here...those who are saying that your scores are competitive are either unaware of the kind of scores needed to get into dental school or are just trying to cut down the competition by telling you that you scores are great.

honest opinion? if you had a 3.8+ gpa, i would agree that you are safe and do not need to retake the exam. however, considering your GPA, I would definitely, strongly suggest you retake and shoot for 20+ if you want to have a good shot at getting in, especially at the more competitive schools. strong letters of rec and all that are great, but ultimately its your DAT scores and GPA that will get you the interview, and in your case both are average.

gluck 👍

Your stats are average. If you've taken upper level division sciences in addition to the bare bones prerequisites, that would make your application stronger. You may not be competitive for the schools that recieve 2000+ applications or state schools that are not your own.

The only opinion that matters is the schools. Call up a few and ask them if you're competitive with your stats. You're better off hearing it directly from them.

I would say, now that you know the test a little better, to go and re-take it and kill it. Scores are getting harder year to year, so you always want to stay ahead of the game.
