Hey everyone,

I am a little worried. I just took the kaplan midterm DAT and received the following scores:

Bio: 13
GC: 12
OC: 16
RC: 16
QR: 14

PAT: 17

For those of you who have taken this midterm, how did you do?

I am taking my DAT in about a month and am wondering if I should be worried or not. This is with 6 months of on and off studying do to a heavy course load. Any comments and suggestions are much appreciated. Thank you.

I took the class too and received similar scores for the midterm lol but by the time my exam came around, i was ready and received a AA: 20 and a TS: 22, so don't worry about it too much yo. Just keep at what you're doing and you'll be fine on the exam. =)

I got 17-19 on most sections for the Kaplan MT but 17+ on all of them. Kaplan wasn't really helpful but I'm guessing I got those scores because I'm pretty confident in my abilities in science and PAT. Don't sweat it too much, just go at your own pace and take the final when you feel ready...not when it's "assigned".

Go through your MT and see what you're weak on (every question you got wrong and right). Also, the hints on your strengths and weaknesses in "my toolbox" can be very helpful as well. Pay careful attention to Bio and GC, those scores are extremely low.

Is what I got on the Kaplan midterm. I reviewed both the midterm and the diagnostic and I realized I knew most of the answers to what I missed. (I don't know why i picked the wrong answers for a lot of the problems =.=" nerves i guess.)

Currently I'm using CHAD's G-chem/O-chem videos, Kaplans blue book, Cliffs AP bio, and the 2011 DAT destroyer in the process of buying Crack the PAT DAT (I'm not too worried about the PAT but I think I'll run through 1 test a day)

I'm scheduled to take the test in twenty days but I'm scared. I'm currently going through the last four weeks on the SDN 8 week day to day guide (a little modified) and running through the destroyer. THE DESTROYER IS SO FREAKING HARD it makes me angry to see I only know a third of whats in there. I'm thinking if i get anything lower then a 20 on my next couple of practice exams I'm going to push the date back. I just can't seem to grasp g-chem and o-chem. I think I need to run through CHAD's agian, and possibly re-read or find some summary on biology (or just do the destroyer a couple times.)

I'm a bio major but a 16 on bio is nothing close to where I know I can be. I see the problems and they ring a bell but I just can't remember the answer.

anyone have any insight on what else I should be doing to get my science scores up?

This is the free one, 2007 version. The paid version is different.

I know how you feel. I felt the same way a couple of weeks ago. My rxn was "wth have I been studying for?" It was way more difficult than the Blue KBB book questions. That's probably the hardest kaplan practice test. I went blank with a lot of math problems. You'll learn techniques as you go such as skipping over the difficult or time consuming ones and come back for them when you get a chance...

Keep on practicing and learn as you go. Your score will be higher and things will be easier. I promise!

I just took the online mid term. This is my first practice test. I couldn't focus on QR section and damn its a hard test.

Bio: 17
GC: 16
OC: 18
RC: 15
QR: 16
PAT: 20


Ill take it in may 19th. I am worried too.

I received similar scores as well, so I bought the KBB and reviewed, I took the test about 3 months later and got scores about 3-5 points higher on each section compared to my diagnostic test.

Don't just use the KBB, but use CliffsAPbiology, DAT destroyer, CrackDAT, Barrons DAT guide etc, and spend about 8 weeks studying and you should do fine.

Oh my gosh, I just took it and ran out of time (big time) on the sciences, PAT, and QR. Jeez, if this is how anxious I am taking a practice test....

Bio: 19
GC: 13
OC: 15 --> this is typically my best section, but I ran out of time with 13 q's to go...omg

I'm going to be taking the rest of Kaplan's FLs, 3 TopScorePros, and the 2007 ADA. And of course going through CDP and Destroyer. I'm signed up for May 10, and I'm not postponing. I need a deadline in order to kick my butt into high-gear studying!

As you can see, there was a big jump between the midterm and the real test. There will be a much higher correlation between your final (or one of the extra practice tests) and the real DAT. Just keep studying hard, and try to identify your weaknesses (i.e. what kinds of questions you missed on the midterm).

I have scored very low on the kaplan midterm as well. I am SUPER worried because my test is in 21 days! I am going through Chad's Videos, Barrons AP Bio, Crack DAT, and Destroyer... My practice tests will not go over a 14! What is wrong?

Have you guys been going through the online subject tests as well? I have been getting 43.33-50% of the questions right on these. What have all of you been scoring?

This thread realllllly helped me. I took the Midterm today and it completely demoralized me, but good to see that others recognized the difficulty of this exam and that there is a significant improvement that I can look forward to. Someone mentioned that their reaction was "wtf have I been studying for" and that's exactly how I felt...but hopefully in the long run it will pay off. SDN CONFIDENCE BOOST FTW
