I just got home from the MCAT -- It kicked my A$@!!! Well, atleast PS did. I know I did good in BS and ok in VR. MY question is...

Worst case scenario -- I did poor on this MCAT, but I have a good GPA -- 3.79 science --- can I retake the MCAT either Sept, or January and still have a shot? I am sending out secondaries as we speak.

I'd prefer January so I can breathe and eat Physics/Gen Chem for several months! But I can try a 4 week killer study period in my weaknesses!

If admissions sees a good GPA, but a bad MCAT -- but I am retaking -- will I still be a candidate?

ANY advice, or ideas would be very much appreciated!

You may be late for some schools but most schools are ok with Sept MCAT. I am waiting for my scores and may have to retake so, I registered for the Sept 13th.:luck:
There will be people here that will tell you you will be too late, fyi.

Some schools might not take the January MCAT. The only problem is that if you take the Sept MCAT, schools will hold your app (and not look at it) until your score is in. So it's up to you.

Or you can sign up for the Sept one and wait to see how you did on today's. If you did better than you thought you can cancel the test date, but make sure to update the schools so they know to go ahead and look at you app.

I came out of my mcat thinking i bombed the test. i was really close to voiding the score but i ended up with a 28 which exceeded my expectations. so you feeling worried may be a good indication of an alright score.

I hope my feelings are fooling me and I scored well! I am very confident in my BS section -- actually more confident than even my practice tests.

The killer was PS -- I couldn't get in that state of mind!
And my strength, VR, was really tough too!

Thanks for the advice! I am signing up for Sept 13 --- You can take 3 tests in year right? is that a calander year? or from date of 1st test? hopefully it wont boil down to that!!!!!

Just breath.....relax....breath again. Wait until you get your score back before you freak out. Don't forget that the exam is curved. It's possible that the PS section was difficult for everyone, which means you could have gotten a lot wrong and scored well still. As long as did a good prep, your score should be in the range of your practice test plus or minus a few points. Good luck!
