Hey everybody,

I just took the 9/14/09 MCAT (and got totally owned). I didn't really work on my secondaries since I felt the MCAT had greater priority, but now that it's all over and done with, I felt I should plow through them. However, I indicated on my primary app that I was taking the test on the above date - should I just go ahead and get the secondaries done before I get my score back? If I send in my app before a school gets my score, will they wait until they get the score before they make a decision, or should I wait for my score to become officially sent to every school before sending in secondaries? Sorry if this is a dumb question.

Also, I'd rather not deal with comments like "omg you're applying so late you have no chance!!11" or something like that. Thanks in advance.

They will look at your app but won't make a decision until the MCAT score is in. So just send 'em out. The rule of thumb is to not wait and get everything out early as possible.

jk; good luck

I think it depends on whether you'd still apply to these schools if you scored lower than expected. Personally, I'd draft all the essays and have everything ready to submit but wait until you see your score. They won't review your app until it's complete (which means MCAT scores too) most likely so it won't hurt you to hold off. If you do way worse than expected and decide not to apply to certain schools, you'd at least save the secondary fees by waiting. But I'd still draft the essays and submit those you are for sure applying to to get those off your mind.

Hmm, this is probably a good idea if you don't plan on sending apps to certain schools if your MCAT is low. I didn't think of this.
