Hey you guys..

I took my DAT yesterday and I just really wanted your input

PAT 18

QR 17
RC 18
Bio 24
Chem 22
Ochem 18 <---my strongest section..dont know what happened
TS 21
AA 20

Do you guys think I should re-take the test??

I really want to go to UCLA
Thanks in advance

Congrats!! Those are solid scores. Its hard to say but I think with a good GPA you would have a genuine shot a UCLA... I would say there is no need for a retake...

Congrats on being done. And I do mean done. I would not re-take. Im not sure of your chances at UCLA but you will definitely get into some good schools...

So.... How'd you study?

keep in mind that UCLA's average is a 22...you sciences are strong, but you might want to call them and ask about that RC score.

your best bet is to ask UCLA admissions directly, since no predent knows for sure what UCLA is looking for

best of luck and congrats on being done 👍

I went into the test knowing that I was going to do well..the morning of I have a very positive attitude...

So I hit the the first section--Bio the hardest

For Bio: I used Achiever, TopScore, Destroyer, and Cliffs AP Bio

For the TopScore tests I was averaging 20's and for Achiever 18's.. The Destroyer was a great help--I strongly recommend using it for the Bio section. There are couple of questions that require you to have a deeper understanding of the material..but overall I zipped through it--finished it in 20 min..

Going into the test..I was very scared of the gchem--it was my weakests section when I started studying--I mainly focused on destroyer--the Achiever test was also good...for some reason reading previous posts I was expected a lot more concept questions--but it was about 50-50..such that I actually did have a handful of problems to work out on that horrible dry erase board..(not to mention that my markers ran out--and I had to cover the ochem without the pens..ugh..I had to go get new pens during the break)...I took a bit longer on the gchem then i expected and when I got to the ochem I was feeling too confident but didnt have enought time to really shine.

I kept on getting 25's on topscore for ochem .. but i whould say the best way to study for that section is destroyer..

The rc was completely different than what I had expected, you guys should not focus on finding the answer directly from the passage..rather reading the passage fully and really understanding it because there are a bunch of tone questions and how would the auther end this passage...

QR was what the hell is this--i swear there were some stuff that i hadnt even seen in any of the practice tests that i had taken..a third of the test was word problems..that just took time to work out..several of them were quick arithmatic--and i had about 3 probability porblems--just know how to do permutations and combinations and youll bet set for the probabilities...but i really cannot say how you guys should study for this section because it completely took me by surprise..

The PAT section was pretty easy--the hole punch was really hard I would say that 8/15 were really time consuming..the probably with the hole punch portion is that the holes that are punched are really small..so its hard to see the symmetry--the keyhole i think was the easiest of all..the tfe was pretty easy too--I never really had a problem with the tfe..there are couple of pattern folds that kind of threw me off--but overall i wouldnt focus on the Achiever for this section because the achiever is hard--i think topscore was on par--but the problem with topscore is that the holepunch and angles are a bit easier than the actual DAT..

I hope this helps you guys--I think with an AA of 20 and a TS of 21 I probably wont be re-taking the test again--my only adivce would be to really take full 4 1/2 hour tests in one sitting--because the test does really get you tired--I think by the time you hit the QR especially after the RC--you eyes are just too tired to work those problems out

good luck to you all

Congrats on being done. Which Cliffs AP bio book did you use- was it the one with questions only or the one with the notes?

I used the one with the notes--mind you that i didnt read the lab section in that book..but it covers almost 90% of the material that you would need to know for the test--plus its an easy read I strongly recommend it
