Just took the CITA exam...any Questions?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
1. Once you reported your patients BP, did anyone else check it? I ask as my patients is normally 150 ish/90 or so, but was afraid of a sudden spike needing me to get specific med clearance.

2. Did you feel that most lesion were accepted? I ask because it seems like everyone feels their lesion is ok, but not great. I was wondering how picky they were, for instance, with light contact in the Class 3's.

Any other overall impressions?

They do not check your patient BP after you check it. Unless you write that is above the limits and they have some sort of severe medical condition they dont worry about the BP. So as long as they are usually ok and dont have a serioud medical condition I wouldnt worry about getting clearance.

They usually accept most lesions. But I would make sure there is a contact. That is definitely something they look for on a class III patient. So if there is a light contact I would look for another one or go ahead and restore the adjacent tooth to a better contact.

Hope this helps!

and good luck. They have definately been failing people left and right, just judging by the results posted on their website.

I wonder if it is really that hard, or people fail to follow the rules, and thus don't pass.

Funny you ask about that. I heard before the exam that when you go to get your second operative procedure approved to find the oldest doctor you can. I did just that. And when he came to my station I started to leave just like the manual said...and he said that I could stay. I stayed and he didn't even look at the patient, just glanced at the xray and and signed the pape work and said "have fun". I was shocked at how that went down.

I am planning on taking the CITA exam this spring and I had a couple questions. I am a UF student in gainesville and was wondering how people looking to take the exam from out of state are able to obtain patients for the 3 clinical portions of the exam. Are there private fee for services that provide patients for these situations? Also, when do they usually release the dates for the exams given in the spring for 2010? Thank you for your time.

Vasco, do you have any other tips that were handed down through the year for CITA?

I hadn't heard of the oldest doctor tip, but it's good to know. The first year they offered CITA, there was a 70-80% pass rate on the mannequin as well as the patient portion. Do you know how your school fared this year on both the mannequin and patient portion?
