biology part wasn't even close to what i studied in destroyer and topscore
g. chem/o. chem were easier than what i expected

QR had questions i never even heard of and time was big factor on RC and QR

i thought i should've done better

cum. GPA 3.96
scien. GPA 4.00

what do you think of my chance?
in san antonio, baylor, houston?

congrats.....I would take you anyday in my school. If I had one! 🙂

u have a fair chance with ur gpa!..how was bio so much different?..how would u suggest studying for it?

i study destroyer/topsocre/kaplan
i thought i was ready especially in biology section
but i was wrong🙁
i can't say for sure since this is my first take.

i really don't know what to suggest,
maybe study other test prep materials

was it something that u never studied or what?
u should at least remember 1 word from bio, right?

i studied word to word in kaplan blue book and other test prep but these qestions never mentioned

I was shocked by the questions that I saw in the bio section...I knew that Kaplan book in and out...I am retaking it...I don't know what to study anymore...I DON"T KNOW!

there was a picture to identify
and they gave a fucntion of the unknown protein to identify
these are some questions i can remember from the test

wow..it scares me...I understand that Kaplan wasn't enough but if DAT destroyer didn't help u....that really scares me... I thought that DAT desteroyer should be the hardest... 😱

I took the DAT last year and there weren't any identification questions. Do you remember what type of question the ID was for (micro, botany, anatomy, etc)? Did they give any background info on the protein question?

I appreciate the heads up! Thanks for posting!😀

i guess it was cell bio

i looked up the quest about evaporation...its keratin!..i cant believe they asked that though!

If the other choices weren't that ambiguous and you knew keratin had something to do with the dermis... it wouldn't be that impossible, would it? On the other hand, if the other choices were like "derm"-something... 🙁

I got an A- in cell bio class and never even heard of the word keratin!😱

...that's horrible...how do u not teach that in a bio class...and not even sarcastic....:scared:

p.s. i plan on takin it july 2 and owning that bio section...reading all my notes every day: zoology, vertebrate zoo, comparative, molecular cell bio, microbiology, botany, advanced mammalian and human physiology, anatomy (!!), plus reading up on techniques!! im pissed and mean! 😎

I would consider retaking. Your RC score is not really great. Since you have an awesome GPA though I would call the schools you are interested in first and ask for their opinions.

It sounds like we had the same test, Bobuba. I really don't believe that the bio section has gotten harder. I was really nervous about how people were saying that it was insane, but I have taken the test before and it seemed easier this time around. There were some similarities in Destroyer and DAT and a few familiar questions but it wasn't enough to get you in the 20s for the bio section.

The math from Destroyer in my opinion did not really compare to the actual real thing. I do remember seeing one question in particular from Destroyer in the math section, but for the most part, using destroyer for math is not the proper way to review. I had mostly algebra on mine not so much word problems.

Organic: was on point. If you study the organic part of Destroyer correctly and thoroughly you should have no problem in this section. I had many problems where they asked what the end product was, nothing hard though.

GenChem: you should understand the concepts more than anything. There were very few calculations, maybe 4.

RC: Timing is everything. I did not have a lot of questions that asked what is the tone of the passage or what did the author mean. Only 2 or 3 questions at the most asking about the tone and meaning of each passage. For the most part the questions/answers were pretty much word for word from the passage. I just wrote the beginning sentence down and then referred back to that particular paragraph, but this was time consuming. It worked well for someone like me who is not a fast reader. Now I just need to prefect it a little more.

I remember many of the questions, for the first time, problem is I bet none of those questions will show up when I take it again:laugh:

Hey bobulu,

You really rocked that PAT?!?! How'd you do it? Tricks? Or is your ability to perceptualize innate?

pudz

i wasn't really good at pat from the start
at first i practiced each section separately without time limit
once i established good techniques
i started to test myself with time

heres the thing... your DAT bio score is not a good representative of your science gpa. "you have a 4.0 science gpa but you cant manage to do well on the science portion of the DAT? than your sciences classes must have been extremelly easy." thats what i imagine the admissions team saying. because when i talked to the admissions guy from UOP he said said that the your gpa should be a good representative of how well youll do on the DAT. if your science gpa is high and your dat science scores are low, then your classes where too easy... good job on the PAT portion btw.

reason probably is b/c i only had six bio classes
bio 1&2, micro, genetic, ecolo, cell

Bobuba I just took the DAT as well on the 30th, I thought the BIO section was insane!!!! I couldn't believe the crap that was on it. You didn't by chance get the same test as me did you. I was pretty frustrated cause I went through the kaplan book about 4 times and also through the high yield stuff, barrons, and my campbells book.

I got some crazy questions like(I don't know if its inappropriate to say this but...) stuff on DOLLY the cloned sheep! I have heard of her but never knew much about the whole thing. BTW I ended up with a 19 on the BIO. I was pretty frustrated cause I went through the kaplan book about 4 times and also through the high yield stuff, barrons, and my campbells book.

Lol, look like 3 of us may have the same test. I think the Dolly one is one of the critical thinking questions, you don't need to (and may not be able to) study to answer that. 😀 Think about that, just one answer made sense, didn't it ?

yes it seems we had same one

I know... It was actually and easy answer because only one answer made sense. I just thought it was bogus... And I was curios to see if we all got the same stupid test... Can I ask what you guys got on the BIO section.. I got a 19 :-(
