Hello all, I am a foreign grad dentist and in my 3rd yr of residency in the states. I just passed the WREB recently BUT I didn't take my NDBE's yet. I didn't think I will stay so I never took the exams.
I have to pass both part 1 and 2 in 4 months!!!!

What's your advise in part one if I just want to pass, I don't care about getting a high grade!

I am planning to take it in the end of February to middle of March. I have the decks and all questions, kaplan bank Q...and mosby 1
I can study about 2-4 hrs daily and weekends, and I will take 2-3 days off before the exam!!!!!

Thanks!!

i have a Q pls!!
u said u are a FTD and currently ur in residency program but u didnt get ur NBDE part 1 is that possible for FTD ?

some schools might let u get in residency without NBDE..off course even in these schools ur chances are better if u took the boards.
I got in residency after doing internship. Although when I applied the school didn't require NBDE if you are a foreign grad, they require it now!

Hi Nbdetaker , i am curious to knw how u got into the residency program?
which are the various colleges to apply?

PLz reply asap.

I am in my third year of periodontics graduate program/residency. If you are interested in graduate periodontics programs you can see the schools in the US and their requirements here:

http://www.perio.org/education/us.html

It's from the Academy of Periodontics website, you can find some info on the website about applying and programs..
I did an internship and a none ADA accredit program in my school and then got into my perio program without the national boards or GRE. As I mentioned before, things changed a little bit since I got in..They are more strict now!

Good luck.

BTW, anyone can advise about best way to take the NDBE 1 in my circumstances!?

I dont think we can do it now...the MSD program without the NBDE...its compulsary in all univs.
For u...what are you waiting for....start it off with decks!

if you're just looking for that sweet 75, just do first aid nbde part 1 and the dental decks PLUS the released papers. if you do all 3, you'll be fine.

Hey i didn't know about this program. can you work getting this certificate? or what you can do after this program?

Thanks in advance.

Thanks, I just started the decks..Hard to read after so many years!!

As far for graduate programs, don't loose hope. They all say they need this and that..our program in my school accepted a a student last year and another this year that are foreign trained and they don't have NDBE or GRE...they will prefer if u have em but you can still do it!
I study in Loma Linda Univ. You can find many schools that will take you even if you don't have boards but it can be competitive..

After finishing the perio program in any accredit school, u can work in about 7-8 states I think including WA, TX, VA, OR...
The other program I did is the implant 3 year program which is an amazing program. U can work in couple of states with it..It's not easy to get in though. Usually you will need to do an internship.

Thanks for reply. i really appreciate.

Hmm, which website? As far as I know, some schools do require the applicants to be a US resident (mostly the state university or hospitals) but the majority don't!
The website I gave has all the schools that have a graduate perio program, I just checked 6 of them to see maybe I was mistaken, and out of the 6 that I checked, only one required a US residency or citizenship..
Some program requires a GRE for the MS. My school too. But if u want to do an MSD..U just need to do ur research and defend it with no other requirements. I am defending my MSD soon and I dont have GRE, NBDE's....

Hey thanx for all the info...👍

Thanks Nbdetaker..i will surely call and enquire in these programs.
i think the whole focus in usa is the score and if we dont get it is quite disappointing as everybody studies hard accrding to their knowledge.
as for you i think juz do dental decks and nbde and past papers as amreki said and u will do juz fine and may even score well then what ur aim is.
all the best.

does this means after taking nbde you will stiall have to go through 3rd tr bds class ,according to colleges you will apply

Thank you my dear. You can try to apply without Tofel, and I am sure some schools will consider you especially if U got an interview and they see that your english is good. you just have to have a good reason =for them to interview u and then to take u..like high scores in dental school, amzing recommendation letters or something like that. For this, u should go and see the director of the school before u apply so he/she can meet u and u can ask them if it's a good idea to apply or at least they can see how good ur english is, this can be a long process and a lot of travelling though. U will not be a strong candidate probably, but many applicants drop last minute and then they will take anyone that have a decent applications, so u might get lucky. Couple of my friends got into different programs like that. Also, It can be a good training for u for next year when u do ur exam and complete ur applications and it can make u some good connections.
My email is [email protected]
let me know if i can help.
