I'm not in trouble yet but I'm afraid I might be later on in the semester. I'm taking 19 hours and they're really really demanding. How bad would it look if I had to withdraw from a course and get a W on my transcript, and then re-enroll in the course next semester? Mainly due to just not being able to handle it all. And would it look worse to withdraw from one of my important science classes (IE Physics!) or a non-science??

I wouldn't worry about it. W's are better than C's, put it that way. And you need extracurriculars, too.

I'd drop one of them like a rock.

P.S. -> 500 Posts for me. $$$ I'll never get the hours of my life back.

I'd drop a few hours too. No need to take 19.
And I wouldn't worry about dropping a science, either. Just make up a good story about wanting more time to feed the homeless, or help old ladies across the street.

as long as you drop the class before the final drop date, you're golden. i've done that in the past and it never shows up on your transcript. if you can't avoid getting a W then it isn't the end of the world. just try not to make a habit of it.

i had a couple of Ws on my transcript along with a D in english 101...luckily i retook and got an A. point is, don't worry too much about it. don't make it a habit of taking a W every semester though.

i took 19 last semester
dont do it
save ur souls

I made a mistake my first semester of junior year, I forgot I had signed up for microbiology lab for a friend (held a class for him since I had seniority)! It had been 5 weeks since class started and there was no way that I could pull off an "A". Well, since I wasnt able to drop it in time (2 week leeway) so I had to withdraw it.

That "W" has been a bane on my application as every school I interviewed to asked me about my single, lonely "W".

I pointed out to them that it was a mistake and that I got an "A" in the same class a semester later.

If you can somehow pull an "A" with that 19 hour workload... do it at all costs. "W" sucks.
