1. Would we see JVD w/ a pt with either ventricular hypertrophy or dilation?

2. Would cardiomegaly lead to an increase in myocardial tissue oxygenation [supply/demand]? The supply should be up, but would the demand surpass this and lead to a decrease in the ratio?

1) Yes, dilation as a result of dilated cardiomyopathy or can cause heart failure , as can pulmonary disease (leading to right sided hypertropy) because in either case blood will not be pumped towards the pulmonary arteries and will backup into systemic circulation.
Edit: I'm actually not sure if volume overload can in itself lead to heart failure, I'll have to look into that.

2) Yes, as the cells hypertrophy, they require an increased oxygen demand, which contributes to why people with hypertension have angina (an increased thickness also requires a larger distance for blood to travel towards the subendocardial area, leading to an increased chance of hypotensive angina).
