K08 salary info

Can people comment on the salary one can expect if they have a K08 or K99? the K08 base is 75K- do institutions typically bump it up to the asst prof level? if they don't should you go somewhere else?


i will be applying for K08 in 1-2 years and haven't really gotten anywhere with this info.

they can bump it up but it depends on what you do. If you all you do is research then no. You get 75K/year, if you get that plus benefits (retirement, health, dental and vision), be very happy. If you want more then you will have to sign out a service, like 1week/mo of marrows if you are a hemepath boarded type. If you do this I believe then your 75K from HH is scaled down 25%, but 75% HH/ 25%Clinical would be slightly more than 100% HH. Assistant prof level at most places in path is around 120K/year so regardless you arent realizing a huge increase in salary. Im not sure you can get to that 120K/year level on HH...but then again all my info is 6+ years old.
